They played with Simon till he was tired. The next day, Sisnil was back in engineering.~ Zoi
Things continued normally. No one really bothered Sisnil. At least not physically. Stevens was back in engineering, and every time he passed, glanced, heard of Sisnil his thoughts were riled and his temper sparking.
Ens. Dradvia, Medical Officer
Sisnil ignored him. It wasn’t hard. When he was done in engineering, he went to the holodeck to train. He picked an easier program to start, but even so, well.... Maybe Dee wouldn’t notice how many new bruises he had. At least he hadn’t broken or sprained anything.
~ Zoi
Dradvia’s day was pretty straight forward. The crew was small and not much was going on. She had a couple of marine’s come in with what they claimed was strained muscles, but were full blown strains and torn muscle from combat training. She mostly liked them. They were tough and intimidating but polite. Except one of them kind of gave her the creeps. She kept that to herself though.
She left sickbay at the end of her shift and made her way towards the mess before going back to her quarters. She passed an engineer and smiled politely. “Off to see your criminal boyfriend? Aren’t you ashamed. What could he see in you anyway?” Dradvia paused, shocked and turned to look at the woman. She thought it was the officer who had been making eyes at Sisnil while he was sick. Dradvia wasn’t sure though as the officer had hurried away down the corridor and out of sight.
She glanced around, feeling like she was being watched again. She decided to forgo the mess and went back to her quarters. She stopped to see if Sisnil was there, but when he didn’t answer, she went through her own door and locked it.
Ens. Dradvia, Medical Officer
Sisnil came up a while later and knocked on her door. “Dee? You okay? You’re stressed again.” His voice came through the door.
~ Zoi
Sisnil felt more than heard the muffled scream that his knock evoked. Who was at her door? No one came to her door, what did they want? Why did the officer say that?
Then she heard Sisnil’s voice. She crept, toward the door and asked the computer to verify who was there. Then she unlocked the door and then hurried back across the room.
Ens. Dradvia, Medical Officer
Sisnil entered the room, hurried to her side, and hugged her. “What’s wrong, Dee? Something happened?” He asked, able to pull that much from her thoughts.
~ Zoi
She almost burrowed into him. Dradvia didn’t want to tell him what happened. That was illogical really, but the idea of telling him what that woman said made her feel uneasy, sick, and worried. It also made her mad the way the woman had judged him, but had wanted him too. But mostly it was the digs and the hatred that even Dradvia could feel, that upset her the most. Of course Sisnil was a telepath so the fact she was thinking about it, just made it easier for him to read her thoughts.
Ens. Dradvia, Medical Officer
Sisnil hugged her tightly, internally sighing. “I’m sorry, Dee. I can have a talk - and I mean a talk, I promise, with her tomorrow. People can hate me all they want, they shouldn’t be taking it out on you.”
~ Zoi
“No.” It was soft but adamant. Dradvia wanted to just keep quiet and not cause problems. There was no reason to do anything. That would just draw more attention.
Ens. Dradvia, Medical Officer
“Okay,” Sisnil said. “Will you tell me if anything else happens?”
~ Zoi
Dradvia didn’t want to tell him. Then he would do something, but he would know anyway. “Yes.”
Ens. Dradvia, Medical Officer
“Good.” Sisnil said softly. “I love you, Dee.”
~ Zoi
“I love you, too.” Dradvia sighed. “I think I just want to go to bed.”
Ens. Dradvia, Medical Officer
“Okay,” Sisnil said again. “Do you want me to stay? Otherwise I might go train a little more.”
~ Zoi
She did, but there was always that reluctance, that unease. “No, it’s okay. Go have fun.”
Ens. Dradvia, Medical Officer
“I’ll stay,” Sisnil said, settling in next to her. “It’s okay. There’s always tomorrow.”
~ Zoi
Her heart raced with tension and an edge of panic. She couldn’t sleep with anyone in her quarters. Yes she wanted him to stay and the fact he was made her feel better, but… but…
Ens. Dradvia, Medical Officer
“I don’t have to sleep here if you don’t want me to, Dee. I can just stay till you’re tired.” Sisnil said, reading her thoughts.
~ Zoi
She swallowed and forced herself to look at him. “I know,” she said quietly. “I… I just don’t know what I want.” Or at least she didn’t know how to reconcile all the confusing feelings inside her.
Ens. Dradvia, Medical Officer
Sisnil hugged her gently. “Okay.” He said. “I love you, Dee.”
~ Zoi
“I know.” At least, he had to, right? If he was putting up with all her problems? issues? weirdness? “Right now, I just want to go to sleep.” The sense of being watched was still there, and it was emotionally, mentally, and physically exhausting. She just wanted to escape for a little while.
Ens. Dradvia, Medical Officer
Sisnil nodded and hugged her again. “Then go ahead and sleep.” He said.
~ Zoi
It was easier said than done. Dradvia curled against her pillows, sitting up, and closed her eyes. She knew Sisnil wasn’t going to let anyone come in, but she still felt watched, like something was lurking right outside her door, just waiting. Maybe she was just over tired. Sisnil would keep her safe. She told herself that over and over, but the question was, from what?
Finally she remembered the sleep aid that Tessan had given her. She slipped it over her head and turned it on. It wasn’t terribly comfortable, but it did help.
Ens. Dradvia, Medical Officer
A while later, Sisnil fell asleep where he sat, leaned against the wall.
~ Zoi
Dradvia woke once when someone walked by her room. She saw Sisnil sitting there, asleep. She wasn’t sure if she should be moved that he stayed, or guilty because he stayed. She didn’t get to think about it long before she slipped back into sleep.
Ens. Dradvia, Medical Officer
The morning came and he was still asleep against the wall. When she woke, so did he. “Dee? How’d you sleep?”
~ Zoi
She nodded as she took the band off and ran her fingers through her hair. Then she scratched her scalp to relieve the lingering feel of the band around her head. “Good. You… you didn’t have to stay.” She chewed her lip before adding, “But I’m glad you did.”
Ens. Dradvia, Medical Officer
Sisnil smiled. “Of course, Dee.” He said as he stretched himself and stood up with a yawn. “I wanted you to feel safe.”
~ Zoi
There was color high on her cheeks as she glanced at him. “I did.” She got up and stretched. She never winced, she never complained, she never felt like she was in pain, but now with his new eyes, Sisnil could see how all those subdermal scars caught and twinged.
Ens. Dradvia, Medical Officer
Sisnil watched her carefully. All scars were like that, and she had a lot. She was fine, he knew, but it pained him to see them like that. He smiled, “Then mission accomplished. You’re on duty again today?”
~ Zoi
The truth was they were painful, she just had gotten used to the pain and to hiding it. “Yeah. I’m on duty for the next several days. Are you going back to engineering?”
Ens. Dradvia, Medical Officer
Sisnil nodded. “It gives me something to do.” He said. “Morris is probably just happy I’ve found something that isn’t mischievous to occupy my time.”
~ Zoi
Dradvia’s brows went up. “And I’m sure you have him very fooled.” She reached for a brush beside her bed and began to work the tangles out of her hair. “How much have you gotten done?”
Ens. Dradvia, Medical Officer
Sisnil grinned and shrugged. “Quite a bit,” he said to answer the question. “I’m just glad I can do something besides sit around my room.”
~ Zoi
Dradvia smiled, “Good. At least you are getting something out of it. It will be useful no matter where you go next.” She set her brush down after a moment and looked everywhere but at him. “Umm… do… would… um could you go? I need to put on a fresh uniform.”
Ens. Dradvia, Medical Officer
Sisnil chuckled and nodded. “I’ll go get breakfast,” he said and stepped out. A little while later he was back with trays for both of them and rang the chime on her door.
~ Zoi
What Dradvia thought he meant, was that he was going to eat, and she would see him later. When the chime rang, it surprised her and she stared at it hesitantly as she slipped on her second boot. “Computer who’s at my door?”
“Civilian Sisnil Zoi.”
Dradvia sighed and opened the door. “I thought you were going to ea… oh!” She stepped back out of the way for him. “Thank… thank you.”
Ens. Dradvia, Medical Officer
Sisnil smiled and stepped in, setting the trays down. “Of course, Dee. I got your favorite.” He said, pointing to one of the trays.
~ Zoi
Her eyes lit up when she looked at the tray and then turned soft as she looked at him. “Thank you. I don’t usually eat before my shift. It’s too early.”
Ens. Dradvia, Medical Officer
Sisnil smiled. “Then consider it a special breakfast with me,” he said as he sat down with his own tray.
~ Zoi
Dradvia sat and he could feel anxiety, uncertainty, and a thrill suddenly race through her. “Like, um,” she swallowed staring at her tray, “a date.” She barely breathed.
Ens. Dradvia, Medical Officer
“Well.... Yeah, I guess,” Sisnil said, but he could feel the anxiety and he quickly added, “but we don’t have to think about it that way if it’s uncomfortable.”
~ Zoi
“No,” her eyes darted up to his as the word rushed out. Was she uncomfortable? She didn’t think so, well not in a bad way. Dradvia had never actually been on a real date. She thought about it. She and Sisnil wpent a lot of time together anyway, and usually had dinner togwther too. This really wasn’t that different. Except that the only time they are in his quarters was when he was sick. These were her quarters and he brought it. That made it special too.
She knew what Sisnil wanted because he was always open with her, and he’d already kissed her. A few times (and she blushed furiously). So she didn’t have to worry about that. So she decided she felt more uncertain and unsure of herself than uncomfortable. “I’m not uncomfortable. Just… nervous.”
Ens. Dradvia, Medical Officer
Sisnil smiled. “Okay.” He said and started eating his own food. “Then a date it is.”
~ Zoi
Dradvia’s grin was only half hidden as she looked down at her plate and began to eat.
Ens. Dradvia, Medical Officer
Sisnil smiled one of those smiles and looked over his tray at her. If this was a date, he was turning on all the charm.
~ Zoi
She could feel his stare, and Dradvia glanced up at him. Heat rushed to her face, and her stomach got this warm fuzzy feeling that almost made her feel light headed. She tried not to bit her lip, but thay let a shy smile curl the corners of her lips. “Whaaat?” She finally asked.
Ens. Dradvia, Medical Officer
“You’re adorable, Dee,” Sisnil said, voice soft, and smiled again. “Can’t I just like watching you be adorable?”
~ Zoi
His voice was soft like velvet. Added to his words and Dee felt all kinds of giddy and special. What had she done that was so adorable? She’d keep doing it if he would look at her like that. “Oh, uh,” she did bit her lip that time. What did she say to that??? “Of course, uh, I mean you can, ummm.” She looked back at her plate and shoved another bite in her mouth to stop her stammering.
Ens. Dradvia, Medical Officer
Sisnil’s look turned adoring and he grinned and chuckled. He took a bite and shrugged. Normally his flirting relied on other activities she wasn’t comfortable with, so he had to change it up a little. “You’re a hundred times more adorable than the nurse making eyes in sickbay, Dee.”
~ Zoi
Her brows drew together. “I’m not sure that’s a compliment. She’s… mature and … experienced. So am I like… adorable like a kid?” She was smirking slightly. She was trying to tease him and not act as giddy as he was making her feel.
Ens. Dradvia, Medical Officer
Sisnil laughed. “You don’t need experience, sometimes the fun is in teaching.” He gave her another of his… appreciating looks. “No, not like a kid at all. Like a beautiful young woman.”
~ Zoi
Her stomach flopped and her heart pounded. She was absolutely still, holding her breath a bit, as he looked at her. His last statement broke the spell and she laughed. His words inadvertently bring back a memory from her childhood. “Oh that’s even worse. Ms. Giya used to tell us that when we were trying so hard to be grown up and failing completely.”
Ens. Dradvia, Medical Officer
Sisnil laughed. “We never wanted to grow up.” He said. It was a scratch of the surface of a dark topic, so he smiled and shrugged. “There is a difference between the awkward beauty of a child and the refined beauty of a woman.”
~ Zoi
“Thank you.” Her eyes lit up and she smiled quietly as butterflies went off in her stomach again. She took a drink to ease her dry mouth. “I guess it’s a matter of perspective. I don’t think it was so much wanting to grow up, but eventually we realized we were never going to be adopted, have a family, or a home, so we wanted to prove we could do it on our own.” She knew it was the opposite for Sisnil. They had to grow up, and wanted to hold on to before they lost their family and home.
Ens. Dradvia, Medical Officer
Sisnil nodded. “We knew it would only be harder as adults. As children, people pity you, don’t see you as a threat.”
~ Zoi
Dradvia nodded. She understood that. She’d seen that pity first hand. She’d taken advantage of it a few times too. Until she and Kryssa got caught and got in trouble. Though she was very sure they never did anything that SIsnil and Noril had to do. It was a sad topic though, and as much as Dradvia wanted to know more, she didn’t want to make it less special because either of them were sad. “What was the first computer program you ever wrote?”
Ens. Dradvia, Medical Officer
“Besides hello world?” Sisnil said and chuckled. “Uhm.... A random number generator. We couldn’t get our hands on any dice to play games with, so I wrote something to do it for us. ....I definitely didn’t obtain the computer I used to write it illegally.” He said and grinned.
~ Zoi
“So you opted for a computer rather than swiping dice? Of course you can do more with a computer.” Dradvia had to contemplate that for a moment. They could get a COMPUTER but not dice. She believed him, but the bitter irony still hit. “What was hello world?”
Ens. Dradvia, Medical Officer
“I could’ve maybe swiped dice, but the trade route was compromised and hard goods weren’t making it there often. A computer was a higher ticket item, but it could do more, and for fun items like dice weren’t being shipped in much.” Sisnil explained. “It’s a beginner program everybody writes at least once. It just prints the words “hello world” to the computer screen.”
~ Zoi
“OH! We had to make ours say, ‘All that is ours is yours.’” That saying, of course, was the whole motto of Risa. “Kryssa of course made hers say ‘all that is mine is mine.’ Mine said ‘hands off.’” She giggled. Their teacher hadn’t been to happy with them.
Ens. Dradvia, Medical Officer
Sisnil laughed. “Little pirates in the making.” He joked, smiling at her.
~ Zoi
Dradvia chuckled. “Maybe. We might have even done that, given all the stories we were told were very romanticized. I’m sure we probably swooned over dashing rougish fictional pirates at some point.”
Ens. Dradvia, Medical Officer
“Please,” Sisnil teased, grinning playfully, “You swoon over a real one now, today.”
~ Zoi
Dradvia’s eyes went wide and her face turned beet red. “I… umm… well…”
Ens. Dradvia, Medical Officer
Sisnil laughed and patted her hand. “I’m just teasing you,” he said and chuckled.
~ Zoi
“I know,” Dradvia tried to act more confident then she felt. She could swoon over Sisnil easily. It was embarrassing he knew that. “You always tease me. You’re never mean though.”
Ens. Dradvia, Medical Officer
Sisnil nodded and ate more of his own food. “Sometimes you need a little teasing,” he said, and smiled at her again.
~ Zoi
“Do I?” Her head tipped just slightly, “And you know just how and when?”
Ens. Dradvia, Medical Officer
Sisnil tapped his head and grinned. “Empathy, remember? I always know.”
~ Zoi
How could she forget? She tried not to grin back at him. “And you’re always right?” Dee forced a hint of disbelief into her voice, just to tease him.
Ens. Dradvia, Medical Officer
“I haven’t been wrong yet,” Sisnil said, a note of arrogance in his voice as he grinned at her.
~ Zoi
She felt that warmth flush her cheeks and into her stomach again. He was too confident for her own good, but she was attracted to it. “I think I’m in trouble then.” She muttered taking a sip of her drink. Why was it so hot in there?
Ens. Dradvia, Medical Officer
Sisnil grinned, her reaction egging him on. “Oh? I certainly hope so.” He used a soft, almost sultry tone, lusty tone.
~ Zoi
Her drink stuck in her throat momentarily. A shiver raced through her. She glanced at him and then down. She wasn’t ready to ask him why. She didn’t think she could eat more; there were too many butterflies in there. She glanced up at him quickly and then down.
Ens. Dradvia, Medical Officer
Sisnil grinned, still giving her a look, but didn’t say anything else. He was taking her in with his gaze, like he couldn’t get enough of her.
~ Zoi
The long silent stare got to her. What was he thinking? What was he going to do? Why? It was hard to sit still. Then suddenly, with unrecognized regret, she spoke “My shift. I can’t be late.” Her voice was full of apology.
Ens. Dradvia, Medical Officer
Sisnil smiled apologetically. “Sorry. I’ll clean up and then I’ll be in engineering.”
~ Zoi
