Xekeer lead the way through the maze of corridors following the screams of Commodore Oper. It seemed like they had been walking for hours until they finally made it to their destination. There was a double a door in front of the group and Xekeer opened it. The room was very dimly lit but Darkliss and T’Pris could just make out three chairs designed to restrain occupants. Commodore Oper was already in a chair. Her arms, legs and head were held in place by metal restraints. The Romulans roughly placed Darkliss and T’Pris in the chairs, Darkliss faced Commodore Oper and T’Pris was placed in full view of Darkliss and Commodore Oper. All of them were restrained by the metal restraints. Xekeer smiled at the three of them.
“Make yourselves comfortable. We’ll be here a while.” He stated and turned to a guard.
“Fetch the Admiral. He should be present for this.” The guard nodded and hurried away.
“Now, you might be wandering what is going on here. Why have we captured you? Well, the Commodore has some information that we need. She has been reluctant to relinquish it. We have been..... persistent but she has remained stubborn. We believe she requires more incentive, that is where you both come in.” He smiled and waited letting that sink in.

GM Budgie

So that was it. No questions, Darklis thought. She felt the restraints. On one level she was glad to be seated and not walking but the hospitality she felt was going to degrade quickly. She felt herself start to panic but closed her eyes to steel herself. The last thing she needed was for the Commodore to lose resolve because of her. Her arm ached from where she had been roughly handled into place and she focused on that. In chess a Queen was far more important than what, a couple of bishops? She didn’t feel herself as important as a Rook and nothing like a Knight. In her mind she envisioned a chess board; she could play whole games in her mind playing both sides. Had Mary been in this chair herself? She glanced over to T’Pris who looked utterly composed. Darklis remained silent. What was there to say? Her eyes looked at the restraints as they were and as she was able. Was this the end?

OOC: Bump .. Gene

T’Pris listened to the Romulan, heard his plans then began to prepare her mind. Torture, a typical Romulan endeavor did not surprise her in the least. She met Darklis’ gaze with a level one before she separated her mind from her emotions and began to practice the Vulcan mantra. She had the training for this with a life time of using it but her control was nothing like it used to be before the Valkyrie. Would she break? She shunted that worry aside as the mantra chanted through her mind. Controlling her breathing, heart rate, blood pressure was no difficulty as Vulcans had perfect physiognomic control of all three, it was the emotional one that she no longer had perfect control of anymore. Through no fault of her own due to the damage to her paracortex.

~Dr. T’Pris

Time appeared to drag, for T’Pris and Darklis it would seem like agonising hours passed before the arrival of Admiral Holek and his entourage. Only 30 minutes had passed. The doors to the interrogation room opened and Holek strode in. He was an older Romulan with grey hair. He was tall and broad shouldered, big an imposing. He had air of authority around him, he was the kind of person who, when they spoke, you listened. His eyes narrowed as he looked over the prisoners and Commodore. The corners of his mouth almost curled into a smile. He sat down in the corner of the room and watched and listened. Xekeer smiled at the Admiral who nodded at him to begin.

Time .. went. Darklis remembered a childhood bit of ‘bathroom’ humor that how long a minute was depended on which side of the bathroom door you were on. This felt like she was on the outside. The chess game she had been playing had dissolved part way through for lack of focus; she could see the commodore and the look in her eyes was chilling. The Admiral allowed another focus and she watched with her eyes as she couldn’t move much else of her. There was a certain creepiness to him. Idly she wondered what he would be like socially. She recalled episodes in history of people conducting untold horrors in the day and then going home to their familes later.

Xekeer paced up and down the length of the table, his arms behind his back.
“Commodore, you know what we want from you. So, tell us about the ship movements in and around Black Rock.” Commodore Oper, eyes wide with fear shook her head in response.

That was it? Not that Darklis held the faintest clue of the answer but it didn’t seem to her to be anything requiring this level of persuasion. All she knew about ship movements was that patrol and conduct altered. This kind of stuff was not news.

“N....No. I......w....wi…will not.” She managed. Xekeer sighed.
“Very well.” He replied and moved over to the chair Darklis was sitting in. Xekeer picked up a hypospray (or the Romulan equivalent) and twisted it around in his fingers. He then jabbed it and injected it into Darklis. Darklis would feel the most intense pain she’d ever felt.

GM Budgie

She felt the hypo. Was it some kind of truth drug? Something to lower her inhibitions and blab about anything and everything? It felt warm, coursing through her, tingling even but she didn’t feel like talking at all. Puzzled she waited for when she would be asked something to blab. The warmth suddenly turned to a searing pain in her nerves. It was sudden onset and Darklis didn’t feel much like talking. She was screaming too much, eyes wide and tear laden ..
Darklis
OOC: Unless you had another kind of thought on how that came up … Gene

OOC: No that’s great Gene :)

T’Pris was aware of what was happening with Darklis, and a part of her sympathized with her. But she knew it would be her turn once the Romulans had tired with Darklis so she kept her focus on her mantra and keeping her mind seperate from what was going on.

She hoped that the Commodore was able to withstand this but she had her doubts. It had appeared in the cells that the woman was totally broken. What would happen once the older woman gave the Romulans what they wanted? Would they all be killed then? Would the Wolverine be able to find them in time? And if they did, would they be able to get them away? All unanswerable questions and a waste of her energies to concentrate on them. She cleared her mind and ran through the mantras again.

~Dr. T’Pris

The Commodore’s eyes were wide with fear. She was utterly broken but she wasn’t going to give in, she couldn’t. She wouldn’t betray her comrades, or Starfleet. They wanted more than just ship movements of course, this was just the first of more follow. Give an inch and they’ll take a mile. She thought to herself, yes. That was it, that’s what she should say.
“Give an inch and they’ll take a mile. Give an inch and they’ll take a mile. GIVE AN INCH AND THEY’LL TAKE A MILE” She screamed, joining Darklis’.

Xekeer continued to pace and he sighed.
“No Commodore. We want to know the ship movements. You will, tell us.” He picked up another hypospray, moved over to Commodore Oper and injected her with another hypospray. Her screams ended and she had a vacant expression.
“Tell us, or your colleagues will endure more pain.” Oper shook her head limply. Xekeer sighed again.
“Very well.” This time he walked over to T’Pris and injected her with the same solution that caused Darklis so much pain.

GM Budgie

T’Pris heard the screams of the Commodore and Darklis as they reverberated through the room and her head. She valiantly fought to keep the mantra foremost in her mind, so much so she lost the concentration to keep her heart beat and breathing even.
Adrenaline began to course through her system as she fought for control. She was so focused inward that she didn’t even see Xekeer come and inject her with the pain serum. She had no idea that eventually her own screams joined the other two women’s. Her eyes were unfocused and unseeing. It felt like her veins were full of fire as it coursed through her blood. Her world had devolved into flames.

~Dr. T’Pris

Darklis lasted through the first sound of T’Pris. Somewhere in a corner of her mind she thought that T’Pris must sound better than she did. She felt herself straining at the restraints, not to escape but to somehow in a tactile way sooth something that she knew could not be soothed but that that part of her brain wasn’t tracking that well. Her fists were white balls, nails biting into her palms. Her screams had taken a more gasping hoarsness to it as her jaws moved from wide open to teeth clenched against the pain. While she knew she must be red faced and looking singularly unattractive at the moment, imagine bulging veins and eyes and a feral look to her - something like Uncle Wes had when he stubbed his toe hard when she was a little girl - that image was fleeting .. she was able to look at the Commodore and T’Pris in a wild eyed look, hissing out a ‘Hold on’ .. whether that was for T’Pris, the Commodore or herself was not known for a moment later her senses overloaded and she slumped unconscious in the chair.
- Darklis

Commodore Oper fought against her restraints trying to break free as Xekeer walked over to her slowly and menacingly.
“Now, Commodore. Tell me what I want to know.” He said, every word was pointed and deliberate. Commodore Oper shook her head, tears began to stream down her face.
“Very well.” Xekeer replied and clicked his fingers. At that moment a device appeared, it was metallic and shaped like a helmet. There were two long needles on either side and a small screen on the front. Commodore Oper clearly recognised the device and became much more agitated.
“No.... No..... Please no.” She stated as the device was wheeled towards her. Xekeer leant towards the Commodore.
“Tell me or I’ll use it, again.” Commodore Oper shook her head. Xekeer sighed picking up a controller and beckoned for the device to be attached to Commodore Oper. The two guards did as indicated and placed it over her head. Oper became even more agitated this time and began to kick and scream as the Xekeer pushed a button and the needles entered her temples.
“Please, stop. Please no.... NO” She screamed and then she stopped as whatever happened began to work. Her eyes glazed over and her body went limp. Xekeer pushed another button, the screen flickered on. She muttered something and Xekeer pushed a different button, her body became tense again and she screamed with pain. When it was over Xekeer began again.
“Commodore. Tell me what I want to know.”
“K....Knno....nor.” Was all she managed. Her eyes seemed to stare off into the distance, she was drooling from the mouth. Xekeer cried out in frustration and rounded on one of Holek’s entourage.
“I told you to keep the dosage low Suta. Now look what you’ve done.” He sighed and turned to the two guards.
“Take her back to her cell and get the Fleet Captain.” He ordered, the two guards nodded and released Oper from the torture chair and dragged her limp body out of the room.

When she was gone Xekeer turned to Darkliss and T’Pris.
“I apologise for the brief interruption ladies, we’ll get back to things in a short while.” He stated unapologetically and he paced the room impatiently.

GM Budgie

T’Pris finally stopped screaming as she sat forward in the chair, restraints were the only thing keeping her in it, as her head hung down. Her hair had come down from her chignon from her struggles and hung down as well, hiding her face. Her wrists and ankles were rubbed raw and bled green blood.
Her breath was raspy and hoarse as she attempted to regain her composure. Her brain and body felt as if they had been burned raw. She heard Xekeer’s words but made no response. She had no idea if she could handle another bout of the serum.

~Dr. T’Pris
Bump

Minutes went by, 5.... 10. Silence positively drowned the room. The Romulans sat quietly patiently waiting, with the exception of Xekeer who paced the room. His footsteps were the only sound. That was until the shouts.
“LET… ME.... GO.” A woman’s voice shouted angrily. The doors then opened, Fleet Captain Mary Mayfield kicked and struggled against the two Romulan guards. She was no match for their strength. They roughly dragged her into the room and slowly moved her over to the chair the Commodore had been sitting in minutes later. She continued to struggle as best she could, her ribs were on fire but she tried to ignore the pain.
“Get… off…” She breathed as the strapped her in. It took a few moments, purely because of her struggling. One of the Romulans knelt down to put the final strap in place. As he did so Mary lashed out kicking the Romulan in the nose. He stumbled back and called out in pain and surprise. The other Romulan guard and Xekeer rushed in and wrestled the strap into place. Xekeer stood and straightened his uniform.
“Right. Now we’re all comfortable, lets continue.” Xekeer stated moving infront of Mary.
“Your colleague, the Commodore wasn’t the most co-operative. I expect you to answer all my questions. Don’t make me do anything....rash. These two have already experienced what happens, when they aren’t answered.”
“So, tell me about the movements in this sector. The ship patrols.” Mary glared and shook his head. Xekeer sighed, grabbed a rod this time and jabbed Darkliss in her side. It was designed to cause intense pain.

GM Budgie

T’Pris took slow deep breaths as she watched Mary be secured and then she shut her eyes as Xekeer moved over toward Darklis with what was obviously a pain stick. It would be her turn after. Slowly anger burned within her at this barbarism. As she heard Darklis begin to scream it finally bubbled out as her eyes narrowed. “It is no wonder our two races seperated! This is barbaric! Leave her be, this will not get you the information you seek.” Perhaps the anger could help her survive herself.

~Dr. T’Pris

Xekeer raised an eyebrow at the outburst from the Vulcan. He jabbed Darkliss one final time and then moved towards T’Pris a slight grin on his face.
“What’s this? Anger from a Vulcan?” He stated with venom.
“This is most.... Unexpected. We make you angry don’t we Vulcan?” He asked forgetting Mary for a second. All of his attention was on T’Pris.

GM Budgie

T’Pris sat up straighter, her shoulders squared as much as she could given her bonds. Her face was blank, despite her previous outburst. She ignored his question and continued on her own tangent.
“Highly illogical and inefficient using torture to try and obtain the information you wish. You cannot count on your ‘victims’ in telling you the truth, if anything at all. Much more logical and efficient to use technological methods to get what you wish.”

~Dr. T’Pris

Xekeer smiled maliciously.
“Our methods seem to have worked fine for centuries. We need don’t need self professed “enlightened” Vulcans telling us what to do.” He sneered then whisked around to Mary again.
“Tell me what I need to know. I’m getting tired of this. If you don’t tell me now, things will start getting a lot worse.” He warned, Mary stared back defiantly not saying anything.
“Very well. You were warned.” He nodded to his guards, took the shock stick and jabbed Darklis one more time. He then unstrapped Darklis and said something to the guards who nodded and took her away. Xekeer glared at Mary and T’Pris not saying anything.
