“Sir, with the quarantine in place, if we need to provide anything to the trader, we won’t exactly be able to,” warned Wells, “Has sickbay made any progress?”

“We know water is scarce here. Dat is our barterine tool if we need it. We can replicate as much as we need, transport it directly to one of de shuttles, filtering out any bacteria dat may be attached and use the shuttles filtra-SHON system to remove any impurities out of de air, and fin’ someone dat is no’ infected to pilot de shuttle over. Unless anyone ‘as a better idea. You’r personal forcefield, Commander, can you rig more of dose devices up?”

OOC: I’m reaching for straws, here.

IC:
“Well, sir, if it’s just water or food, just have the shuttle craft’s systems perform the replication. As for my personal forcefield, sir… let’s just say it’s a rather unique design with certain attributes that aren’t reproducible through the replicator. Though a standard personal forcefield might be just effective… though… given the disease is detected across the ship, I would theorize that the majority of the crew is infected.”

Hitting the comm on the arm of his chair, the captain called down to sickbay. =^=Bridge to Sickbay. Dr. Shaidi, is dere any progress getting rid of dis nasty bug yet?=^=

Wraith had been manning the tactical station and maintaining a quiet disposition listening to the happenings on the bridge.

The Sickbay comm was open at the time, enough for Dr. Shaidi to hear the conversation.

“Captain, if I may, even an infected crew member could man the shuttle with a proper shield set in place barricading him into the cockpit section. He can still through voice command control the replicator and transporter functions of the shuttle allowing him to safely transfer the unaffected replicated water.”
He stoically waited the Captains thoughts on his plan.

“Wouldn’t life support be active throughout the shuttlecraft?” inquired Wells to McGarvey, “I suppose if life support systems were disabled or destroyed, and that section was flooded with low level radiation to eliminate the virus, presumably.”

In the center seat, Remy had been swiveling back and forth between each person’s comments. “I tend to agree with Dr. Shaidi. My concern is dat whoever is piloting de shuttle may not be showine de efffects right now, but may become incapacitated to de same extent as Lt. Sharise and Cmdr. Erin. Dat could leave our pilot unable to negotiate for information as well.”

“Sir, trader is now coming into range of short range sensors in 15 minutes. They should be able to pick up us on their long range sensors shortly,” announced someone at Ops.

“Captain, I will of course man my post here, but should you be looking for a volunteer to man the shuttle, I do so volunteer, fully understanding the risks of such an endeavor.” He never took his attention off of his duty while addressing the captain. Including checking the tactical for any unusual readings in regards to ship in front of them and the space surrounding them.

“Duly noted, Mr. McGarvey,” Remy replied.

He then fell silent, contemplating his options, who was available and who was incapacitated.

Turning back toward McGarvey, he said, “Ensign, prepare one of de shuttles. recruit some assistance in replicatine some fresh water. 500 gallons in 50 gallon drums. You are goine to pilot de shuttle. Take Ens. Voq from science wit’ you. Be prepared to go on my word.”

“Aye, sir.” he said simply. He pressed a button on tactical requesting for a replacement to the station, “I’ll comm some assistance en route Captain and request Ensign Voq once the shuttle has begun being loaded.”

With that he turned and left as NE Scimitar took over tactical. Scimitar was a tall man in his mid 20’s. Some would say his wit got him in trouble but when doing his job he was usually all business.

Turning back to the viewscreen, he pressed the comm. =^=Lt. Mado, report to de Bridge.=^=

“Let’s keep our fingers crossed, people. Sometine is bound to go right, eventually. Let’s ‘ope dis is de start.”
