The Wolverine.

It was a different beast entirely to the USS Challenger, the ship he had spent time on as a cadet within the ranks of Star Fleet. No longer did he have mentors watching over him, training him. He was a junior officer aboard an active Star Fleet vessel, a Brazen Class Escort. He was expected to carry out his duties professionally and expertly to the best of his abilities.

The young ensign had spent time studying the ships specification upon finding out from Captain Aaron Foley that his placement would be aboard the Brazen Class. He remembered his first arrival upon a Star Fleet ship and how lost he’d gotten. He didn’t want a repeat of that in the slightest. He’d actually taken the time to study where everything important was about the USS Wolverine as to not get lost on day one.

Adjusting his standard issue uniform, he approached the door to the office of his new Department Head. His new Chief Medical Officer was a Doctor and a Lieutenant of Star Fleet. All in all, he didn’t appear too dissimilar to what the young ensign was used to. He was sure that there would be some differences in personality but hopefully nothing to write home about.

Zachariah Conway stood at attention, and proceeded to tap the door lightly.

Stretching his back he raised his arms high above his head. Looking at the time he noted that he still had time before his next counseling session. “Enter” he said as he looked over his schedule as he stood from his seat to great whoever it was.

“Ah Ensign Conway, Welcome come in have a seat.” he said moving around his desk. “Can I get you something to drink?” he asked.

Zachariah entered the office upon command.

The young ensign stepped in quickly and stood at attention until directed otherwise by the Lieutenant. Upon the invitation to take a seat, the young man did so however he sat with perfect posture. Star Fleet could be described as many things, but above all else it was a military operation and policy and procedure and the rules meant a lot within the organisation.

“No thank you, sir” he replied upon the offer of a drink. “I believe Star Fleet regulations instruct that I am to make myself known to my department head upon arrival onto a new vessel and report for duty” he continued. “Ensign Zachariah Conway, graduate and transferee from the USS Challenger” he said formally. “I believe you have already been provided with a copy of my assingment orders” he stated.

Technically he wasn’t entirely ready for duty yet. He would be expected to have his medical check in and his psychological evaluation before he was assigned to active duty. It made sense to tick off his introductions to his department head first though, especially as all three of his check ins would occur within the same area and likely with the same person.

“Reporting for duty, Lieutenant”.

Tealor smiled “At ease Ensign” he said. “I tried the formal thing when I got here too, captain looks for a little less protocol, obviously ship outsiders still get full honors but he want’s us all to operate with a little less formality” he picked up his padd and scanned his orders

“Well all seems to be in order, once you get checked out we’ll get you on first shift with me I could use an extra hand” he smiled.

“Tessan looked over his qualification, “Do you have any questions for me?”

For as much as the captain probably wanted a little less formality, the USS Wolverine was still a military vessel. Protocols and standards were still highly important.

“No, sir” he answered. He truly had no questions to ask. He was content, he knew what he was doing and he had a vague understanding of the ship layout. “Should anything come to me, I will be sure to ask” he added after a brief pause.

“I believe I am also mandated to conduct a medical and a councilling session before reporting for active duty. Some would say I planned the order of these appointments to do all three mandatory appointments in one go” he chuckled softly.
