The new Tactical officer walked into the Wolverine’s sickbay and looked around, blue artificial eyes taking in the room and people in it. She looked at one of the Medical officers and said “Hi! Sorry to interrupt, but I just got on board. Do I need to schedule a physical, or can I see if someone is available now?”

McCallister, Tactical

“Oh yes,” the medical officer said, “Dr. García will see you in a moment. Anywhere you see open is fine.”

She was directed to a row of examination bed lined up against the wall. Most were empty so she had her choice of where to wait. Soon after, Dr. García rounded the corner. She smiled and gave the Lieutenant a cheerful, “Hello.”

She stood beside the bed for a moment, going over the Lieutenant’s notes. Her cybernectic eye implants were much more advanced than the doctor’s own. And certainly much less obvious, aside from the striking color. McCallister also might have noticed, because of the shorter length uniform Rosa was fond of wearing, her prosthetic limb. It was a traditional prosthetic not far off from early 21st century technology-wise.

“And you are Lieutenant McCallister, correct? It is nice to meet you, you may call me Rosa.”

|Dr. García,
CMO/CNS|

“I am, and thanks Rosa. Call me Raven, if you like. My middle name.” McCallister said with a warm smile and in a friendly, bubbly manner. “You been on the ship long? How do you like it?”

McCallister, Tac

“It is nice to meet you Raven,” Rosa said. Then paused and thought for a moment.

“I’ve been onboard for a few months now. So far the people are nice enough. It’s been quite though. I suppose you could say that’s a good thing.”

Rosa scanned the notes again before continuing, “Okay, onboarding… Now, we have a standard medic exam, and they want me to collect some medical data regarding your implants as well. We won’t be doing any diagnostics but just checking for reactions, irritation around the sight and such. Does that sound alright with you?”

|Dr. García,
CMO/CNS|

“Sure thing.” Raven said. “And no injuries or illness since my last exam.” she preempted, obviously familiar with onboarding questions. “And the eyes feel great and I have had no issues other than a little headache when I am filtering into ultraviolet. Infrared doesn’t do the same thing, though.” she volunteered. She remained quiet a bit longer and then said “So quiet, huh? Do you know if you guys had a Tactical Officer on board before me? I ask becaus eif you did, then it’s a standard rotation. If you didn’t, then someone might be expecting trouble.”

McCallister. Tactical

bump

In her usual fashion Rosa was multitasking, running a basic medical scan while remaining engaged in Raven’s conversation, “Well, I myself have only been onboard a month or so, I do not recall meeting the previous tactical officer before.”

|Dr. García,
CMO/CNS|

“Kind of the impression I have picked up so far.” McCallister replied with a chuckle. She straightened her back to peer at readouts. “How’s everything looking, Doc?” she asked.

OOC: No physical issues, but the eye issues may be something if you want to tinker with some cybernetics. Otherwise, just getting used to it.

McCallister, Tactical

“You are in excellent health, my dear,” Rosa responded, “I do want to run a quick diagnostic on your eyes functions, just to be sure.”

She went over to a nearby medical cabinet, retrieved a few more tools, and came back over.

“This is a simple eye response test. It is designed for organic eyes, but has it’s advanced imagining capabilities. It would give us some useful information if there is some sort of say physical malfunction or perhaps even a problem with the cybernetic interface with your nervous system. It should not bother you at all.” She explained it from a position of experience as both a doctor and a patient.

The device was mostly rectangular, hand-sized with a small wand like probe attached to it. “Just watch this light for me.” she directed, indicating the end of the probe. She moved it back and forth, testing different areas of vision, varying the location and depth of the probe using smooth motions.

“So once we get the imagining done, I will first look for any of the more common issues. Then, if I may, I would also like to forward the results to one of my colleges for further examination. Just to be sure…”

|Dr. García,
CMO/CNS|

McCallister thought for a minute and said “Well, I don’t care; but you’ll have to get clearance I think. Something in here-” and she tapped her right eye, “- is classified tech. I don’t what, but I know I got some pretty freakin’ specific instructions on ‘em when they put them in.”

McCallister, Tactical

“Yes, I noticed that they are not the standard model,” Dr. García said, giving a nod as she turned to put the tools down,

“My current implant is newer, but the injury itself was from my time during the Dominion War. I remember I had a lot of trouble with that first one, but I had bigger things to worry about. As long as it let me get my job done.”

While her tone was casual, she was observing McCallister’s reactions. She often paired a few phycological questions with the initial medical exam. It was more efficient to pair both together in one visit.

|Dr. García,
CMO/CNS|

“Exactly.” Veronica said with a smile. “If I couldn’t do tactical work anymore, I think I would get really depressed. I like my job… maybe a bit too much.” she said and then laughed. “But what is that old saying… ‘Find a job you love and you’ll never work a day in your life.’ or something?”

McCallister, Tactical

(OOC: Just going to jump in here really quick - do you want to continue this with our new CMO that took over from Ava or just wrap it up? Also, feel free to join the senior officers in the conference room :) )

Taelor took the pad from García. “It’s time the Captain would like to see you, I have it from here Sir” he said smiled at McCallister warmly and then looked through her chart. She was in great physical shape and her impants were top of the line he would have to research what he could on their design as well as enlist the help of the engineering department. He would head down to engineering a bit later.

“Well Lieutenant” he said looking up from his pad. Truth be told he was not used to human females being almost as tall as him. “Everything looks in order? Is there anything you would like me to be aware of?” he asked.

Raven smiled and said “Just one thing. The implants. They let me see in all kinds of ranges. But when I do ultraviolet it gives me a pretty wicked headache after a few seconds. Dunno if that just me getting used to them, or if you need to tweak something or whatnot.”

McCallister, Tactical

He raised his tricorder over the orbit making sure things appeared to be surgically ok. “These are very impressive and new, sadly I don’t have a lot of information on them.” he said shifting to her side. “How is the image when you do switch to UV before the headache kicks in?” he asked his black eyes searching the results of the scan.
