Stepping down off the Transporter pad Dr Tessan made his way to the CO’s office. Given he was taking over the medical and counselor position on the ship he wanted to check in with the Captain first before meeting his team. Star Fleet had cleared his psyche prior to leaving Starbase 277 and would have one of the junior officers complete his physical after introductions were made.
Tealor walked with purpose as he moved into the turbo lift to the bridge, as the door opened once more he took one step out of the lift. ‘Here we go’ He thought.

“Permission to come on the bridge” he said, “Granted” an on duty NE responded. “Thank you Ensign, I’m Lieutenant Tassan, I’m here to see the Captain.” The NE gave a nod gave quick “Welcome aboard Sir” and went back to work.
He worked his way to the ready room and pressed the chime waiting to be asked in.

“Come in,” David called, brightly if a bit wearily. In the several days since the Wolverine arrived back to Starbase 277 and he’d been shocked to be handed another full pip, along with orders to take command of the ship, he’d barely left Deck 1 - except to sleep, and not much of that either. The Commander rubbed his eyes as the tall Betazoid man stepped into his office, straightening the ever-so-slowly shrinking pile of PADDs and smiling. “Lieutenant Tessan. Or do you prefer Dr? Either way, welcome aboard.” He stood, walking around the desk to stand in front of Tessan and offering a hand to shake. “I’m Commander David Morris. Your file just came in about an hour ago - glad to have you with us!”

“Either is fine Sir,” he said extending his hand his grip firm but not overbearing. “and thank you Captain, it’s a pleasure to be here” he noted releasing his grip and taking a small step back.

David blinked at the “Captain” - he’d have to get used to the honorary title, despite not holding the rank - and sat back down, sipping at his fifth cup of coffee that day. He normally preferred tea, but coffee had a sharper effect and he needed all the energy he could get. “Can I get you anything?”

He thought for a moment “Water would be amazing” he finally responded waiting at a loss form of attention. His mind wandered to the large pile of pads on the man’s desk. Every time he saw a mound like that, he was not sure who had more paper work a Doctor or a ship’s captain.

David requested a glass of water from his replicator and handed it over to the doctor, chuckling as he noticed the glance at his paperwork. “I’ve never been able to escape it. I started in Medical, so I know how much you have to deal with - mine’s just more red tape now.”

“Red Tape, always a blast that.” Tealor smiled he almost checked to see if the captain was a telepath however it was clear that he was just an observant man. He shifted a little taking the glass of water. He could feel the mans emotions starting to push against his mind, he took a sip off the water closing his eyes briefly and pushed them away with out much effort. He preferred to let people have their anonymity it made for far more interesting interactions.

“So, do you have any questions for me? Anything about the ship, your responsibilities, any of that?”

“Do you have any protocols medical or for psych that are non standard? ” he asked it was rare that ships did not just follow star fleet protocol when it came to medical related items however it was not unheard of either.

“Nothing in particular that’s especially unusual, although we do get into stressful and morally difficult situations significantly more frequently than the average ship - the crew adapts by forming more interpersonal links. The Wolverine is a family, and especially those of us that have been here a while treat it as such.”

Tealor noted the sense of responsibility in his voice for he crew. “Having a crew that trusts one another and see’s each other is family is a great thing” he noted. “I think the only thing for me that brings a little caution that i’ll keep an eye on.” He said with a little hesitation. “Is sometimes families can have a hard time communicating hard truths to one another. Is it something you have seen here on the Wolverine?” he asked.

Close knit meant trust and often made it hard for new commers to fit in, it could also lead to healthy but sometime untimely disagreements. So long as the crew was able to sperate those two things when needed though it should not be an issue.

“I haven’t seen it, but that doesn’t mean it can’t happen,” David agreed. “I’ll keep an eye on it too. Any other questions you have for me?”

A sly grin formed on the corner of his mouth, “Only, when can I expect you for a physical and your psyc eval” he said with a little chuckle. Captains were more often then not the hardest to lock down for their regular. He thought for a few minutes, “I don’t mind doing them over a round of golf at St Andrews if your game.” he noted.

“Fine by me,” David smiled. “I may be busy and have few gaps in my schedule, but I was CMO and Counselor before I transferred to Command, I know you need to pin me down sometime. I can try to make a gap when it’s convenient for you and I’ll take you up on that game. The base has significantly nicer holosuites than what we have aboard,” he laughed.

Tealor smiled it was always better for him to do the general evals while doing something both people could enjoy. Things tended to float to the surface more casually and in some cases by accident. They could always sit and talk through anything critical if it arose. ” Excellent Captain, How does tomorrow morning around 5am sound” he said wounding if the captain was an early riser.

“That sounds wonderful,” David said. “I may have some coffee or tea in hand, but I think you’ve found the only time I have a uninterrupted block where nobody needs my sign-off or needs me at a briefing.” He sighed. “I suppose I’ll see you then, unless there’s anything else?”

“Well if you ever need a ‘the doctor says I can’t ’ note you let me know” he said with a slight laugh as he stood to his feet. “I’ll see you in the moring then Sir” he said as he turned and left the room.
