David left straight from sickbay after giving the order, prepping the displays in the conference room with all of the data that had been compiled thus far. That accomplished, he replicated a cup of black tea and stood by the door, waiting to greet each DH as they arrived.

“I’m still not sure we’ll ever put together every piece of the puzzle, Commander,” Bryson said as he approached the conference room door. “To think that the Jem’Hadar were here, but now aren’t, and without a trace?” The Captain was sure that each of the department heads would have some sort of update , though he had primarily wanted to here about his guests in Sickbay

Dr. García was able to keep pace and had entered shortly after Commander Morris.

“The Jem’Hadar, here?” she asked, obviously not up to date on all the knowledge. Then again that is what the meeting was for. Mention of the Jem’Hadar did put her a bit on alert, as it was during the Dominion War she earned her cybernetic eye.

“As far as I know,” Rosa started, “The Captain of the Pythagoras was injured, in critic condition. Judging from the injuries, it looked like he was attacked. Some claimed it might have been animal attack, but there is no evidence of it. You don’t think that…”

She trailed off, a puzzled look on her face.

“I wouldn’t rule anything out, but I highly doubt they’re down on the planet unless Remy was to find anything stating otherwise,” The Captain replied, hoping the squash any Dominion fears.

Rosa nodded, acknowledging the Captain’s statement.

Alita entered and caught everything mid conversation. Grabbing a cup of coffee and slipping into a chair she could only think of the sehlat that she had seen for quite some time. Was that the injury they were talking about?

“Besides the Captain, there is also the ship’s physician, and that woman who was with him. They did not appear to be in as worse shape as the others.” She obviously wasn’t up to date on where exactly those two had come from either.

“Yes,” David agreed, “Lt. David Barclay and Weena, the Kein who he mentioned in the logs we reviewed from sickbay. I’m hoping they might be able to help us piece together what exactly happened here.”

Having just returned from the surface, Remy hurried to the conference room. He had removed his EV suit on the shuttle trip back to the Wolverine.

As he plopped down into a chair, he tossed a sealed evidence baggie on the table. I was filled with a white powdery substance. Pointing to the baggie, he added, “DAT is all I found at de Jem’Hadar base–ketrecel white, or what’s left of it after it dries out. I was only able to fin’ dat, ‘cuz whoever else ransacked dat base could no’ get into de safe.”

“I’m guessing it’s been abandoned since the war ended then,” The Captain stated, “We can have Lieutenant Spencer log the contents for future reference.” Bryson peered at the time panel. He was going to give his people another 5 minutes to arrive before they had to start the meeting.

David raised an eyebrow at the powder. He’d seen samples of ketracel-white, of course, but was too young to have encountered the substance in the field. “Interesting,” he noted, mostly to himself.

“Indeed,” Bryson replied, “It’s oddly both fascinating and horrendous how a species could be bioengineered to be dependent on a substance,” The CO stated. While not having seen the Jem’Hadar in person since he was in the academy during the war, he did experience the attack on Earth and lost quite a few friends.
