Stepping around him, the door shut and Sharise gestured with her head. “Come on, you’ll have to follow me in order to find out.”

He followed silently behind her.

Ayla walked to the turbolift at the end of the hall and pressed the call button. When it arrived, she gave Peter a smile before stepping in. “Deck Seven,” she called out. They were on Deck Six, so it was going to be a short trip. She was well aware of his discomfort, but was countering it with her ease. He might be expecting something he wouldn’t like, but she wanted him to know that didn’t have to be the case.

Lt. Sharise, CNS

He wanted to trust her as her sense of ease was not lost on him. He realized a long time ago that his understanding emotions directly was all but impossible but through studying cause and effect he could read people’s body language and empirically understand what they were feeling and thinking.

“What did you have in mind for us on Deck 7, Counselor?” he asked as the lift made the quick trip.

She smiled deeply, her hazel eyes holding warmth. “My job is to evaluate your state of being so I can be sure your are able to be a functioning part of this crew. Most people assume a certain set of parameters for this to taken place under, but I’ve never been one for convention. And on a ship this small, with a space that tiny to work with I often feel the need to shake things up a bit.” Her expression became more serious as the door re-opened . “Simply put, my office gets boring.”

Smirking slightly she moved gracefully down the corridor until she reached another larger door. The Holosuite. Their only one on the pint-sized destroyer. It was also the only ‘facility’ on this bottom deck of the ship.

Stepping inside, the empath walked backwards towards the middle. “Okay Peter, your pick. What a good place to have a chat?”

Lt. Sharise, CNS

Actually Peter had exactly the perfect place to meet. A place that growing up had given him great comfort.

The holodeck shifted and phased out and in its place was a room in a giant castle. A fire blazed and two chairs sat beside it. Behind the chairs was an old fashioned table that functioned as a small bar. On the other side of the room was an exit that led to a patio that looked down on crashing waves. Across from the door was a desk cluttered with journals, notes, pictures, and pens, pencils. Sharise would notice that it had been several years since the last journal entry.

Wraith for his part was a bit surprised at the state of dishevelment of the desk. He never left it in such a state but here it was, “perhaps this wasn’t the best place after all.” He thought to himself, the feeling of security he had hoped that would come from this place had as of yet to arrive. Rather feelings of his failure seemed to crawl towards him from that desk. He did his best to ignore the desk and sat beside the fire.

“Please, Counselor, have a seat.”
