David ran out of the turbolift, followed shortly after by a team arriving from sickbay. “Lieutenant, report,” he asked, accepting the medical tricorder handed to him and going to work on the nearest patient. “Any idea what caused these injuries?”

“i’ve got a wounded Vulcan Captain, appears to have been wounded by some animal, but I was unable to determine what kind of animal it was.” Cel reported, “He was not apart of the team we were sent to locate.” He added as he helped the wounded vulcan off the shuttle.

“Understood,” David noted, kneeling next to the captain and checking vitals. “How long would you guess he was injured for before you found him?”

Rosa rushed around the corner, kneeling down across from David. She focused her attention on the patient. “Captain?” she inquired, firm and loud in her tone. An easy way to check the Vulcan’s reaction, and if he was still aware enough to know what’s going on.

The supposition that it was an animal, by Morris’ and Rosa’s estimations was a little iffy. It was a nasty jagged wound down his back but that was all it was and while it may have been a single bad claw or something there were no other injuries that would suggest a paw or something had done it. That would have been difficult to ascertain in the field, however, so that estimation was as good as any. The Vulcan had lost a lot of blood and was in shock - he was also quite unconscious. The identifier on him denoting him as a Captain was that he was wearing a Starfleet uniform.

One of the two other Vulcans who were there, the female, said, “He came into the camp on his own after climbing a short, steep cliff, then collapsed. I would estimate from his blood loss that his injury could not have been sustained past an hour before his finding the camp.”

“Understood,” David stated. “Dr. García, let’s get him transported to sickbay. I don’t think it’s safe to move him by conventional means. And I’m not sure this was an animal - it could just as well have been a fall or even a bladed weapon. I’d like to talk with him once he’s awake and see what he can tell us - it may turn out to be important intelligence.”

She spoke with a sense of urgency out of habit, like a true battlefield medic. Pulling out her medkit, she was able to inject a simple coagulant compatible with most humanoids. If it worked it could save his life, and on the off chance it made his condition worse at least they were on their way to sickbay.

The transport went smoothly and soon they were materializing in Sickbay. Orderly disorder being the order of business the Vulcan was soon on a biobed. The coagulant was compatible with him and helped him; soon his vitals were displayed along with a 3D image of the nasty cut. With further scans there were local biomatter present that may risk infection and some foreign matter along the deeper regions of the wound that will need extraction.
