Peter sat on his floor cross legged. He was meditating, calming himself after a restless nights sleep. “So many people that I’ve failed over the years. So many mistakes. So much pain.”, he tried to re-center himself. Tried to find balance but today he was finding it especially hard. Today was his psych evaluation and today was a day that these memories wouldn’t be left alone, it was like his mind, knowing that the past would be brought forward, was helping by catapaulting the saddest and most painful memories forward. Memories that normally he would leave alone. Memories that he buried because that’s what he has always done with the past, “Experience, learn, leave. Let the past be your tutor and nothing more.” that was how he learned to deal with it long ago.

He stood, his over 6 foot frame stood strong, his body in so many ways seemed stronger than his mind today. Well disciplined, strong, he made sure to keep his body ready for every eventuality that he could concieve of in his mind. Then he tested it in the holodeck. If he couldn’t pass his own test then he did it again and again until he accomplished it. He didn’t believe in no win situations. That’s why he knew he had failed to prepare. As he splashed his face with water he thought, “If I had gone into that prepared…” he stopped the thought, he couldn’t change things. He could only move forward.

He dressed in silence. Then headed to the counselor’s office for the meeting that he was least looking forward to… his psych eval. He reached the door and chimed to be let in.
