Baker headed over to Black and said, “Ensign, you’re with me. There’s a Jem’Hadar ship buried in that planetoid and we’re going to investigate. Follow me to the shuttle bay. Bring a phaser and tricorder, just in case.” With that he headed to the turbo lift and took it to the shuttle bay.

When he got there he went straight into a shuttle and started prepping her for launch.

James heard jem hadar and picked a type one phaser , and put it in his boot. Plus a type three phaser. Grabbing a tricorder he double timed it to the shuttle sat next to baker strapped in , “ hello im ensign black , we have not met yet.

The ensign seemed full of energy, which threw Baker off briefly. Regaining himself he nodded and said, “Basil Baker, Petty Officer.” He extended his hand out to Black to shake.
“I’ll pilot us out,” Baker said punching in the correct commands into the shuttle, “Keep an eye on our scanners as we approach. That ship may look incapacitated, but I don’t want to take any chances with the Jem’Hadar. They’re a nasty bunch. Could even give Klingons a run for their money.”
Baker hit the comm on the shuttle to patch them to the bridge. =^=Baker to bridge, we’re ready to launch.=^=

James shook bakers hand, as he checked out the gear on him,To make sure that it was ready. ”I just graduated from the academy, this is my first ship. The ensign looked anxiously at the floor trying to count the rivets, he was ready for his first mission. He just hopes that it’s wasn’t his last.

Basil looked over the ensign and tried to mask a disconcerted look. He was going to investigate a Jem’Hadar ship with a green ensign fresh out of the academy. He steeled himself for what lay ahead and began to punch in the commands for their departure. As they left the shuttle bay, Basil quoted, “They shall come all for violence: their faces shall sup up as the east wind, and they shall gather the captivity as the sand.”

The shuttle slid smoothly through space en route to the planetoid that looked not unlike the old comic strip personality ‘The Thing’ - mottled and lumpy with coloration on the orange to brown to black. For a small world it looked more like a bruise in space. As the shuttle drew closer sensors were able to pick out the identified corroded nose of the Jen’Hadar vessel. Closer optical magnification would show it to be wedged between the walls of what may have been a cavern behind, but certainly it had to have been there for a reason. There was no immediate power readings. They would need to be in closer for better scans, though initial scans show a cavity behind the dead ship.

Baker looked at the readings he was getting on the ship and piloted closer, hoping to get more conclusive readings. “There seems to be a cavern behind the ship.” He said to Black, “I’m moving us in to get a better look.” Looking at the seemingly dead Jem’Hadar ship, a stray quotation drifted into his mind.
“Here lies a toppled god.
His fall was not a small one.
We did but build his pedestal,
A narrow and a tall one.”
He said the quotation to himself as he maneuvered the shuttle closer towards the wrecked vessel of the once mighty enemy of the federation.

“I wonder if the jem hadar went into the cavren ? “James tried to scan the cavern, with the ships sensors. As baker piloted the ship, scaning for life signs. As he hailed the ship. As per regulations.

There were no life signs that they could detect.

Beyond the Jem’hadar ship, at a closer vantage, they could see that the walls of the chamber beyond wove inward following what appeared to be a natural cavity and cavern. Here and there they could see in the immediate chamber/tunnel places where edges had been phasered off, areas smoothed, and, more ominously perhaps a hard point in a wall section not far in where a weapons emplacement was. No power reading was coming from it, however. The effectiveness of the shuttle sensors were hindered beyond the turn ahead in the chamber/tunnel. There were suggestions of more but they would need to get in to see. Two things were noteworthy here:
1. The planetoid looked to not be too stable as fissures and fault lines look like they had cracked the likely more even vista of the chamber
2. It was possible that the shuttle, not being ‘that’ big, could with some finicky flying slip past the Jem’hadar ship. The chamber beyond would easily fit the shuttle where the Jem’hadar ship was much larger, well, less a little squishing.

Baker looked at the cave. “I don’t like this at all.” He said looking over the scan results, “Looks a trap to me. Call it in Ensign?”

“I agree “ =^= this is ensign black we located the Jem’hadar vessel no life signs,yet we certainly don’t know if they are in the cavern we sense an ambushing situation . =^=

What emplacements that they were able to scan and focus in on appeared to have the same metal deterioration that plagued the trapped Jem’hadar ship. While a trap was possible - what military site didn’t employ some measure of such measures - what they were able to scan was quite non functional at least in appearance.

Baker nodded as he started to do a more in-depth scan of the Jem’hadar ship to see if it could support them should they beam over. He liked the idea of going aboard the abandoned ship more than trying to explore that cavern.

Scans showed life support had been compromised and they’d need to beam in suited up.

Baker nodded and, after stabilizing the shuttle, went to the back to put on his suit. Once he had it on he looked to James and said, “Once more unto the breach, dear friends, Or close the wall up with our English dead.” He then began to ready the transporter to beam them to the Jem’Hadar bridge.

James checked his environmental suit ,and reading his phaser. Looked at baker “ let’s go, but be careful.”
