T’Mor could no longer put off her psychological evaluation. Talking to counselors was not something she enjoyed. Especially considering recent personal events prior to her return to duty. However, it was protocol. It took a session of deep meditation to properly suppress her anxiety. Hopefully it had worked.T’Mor rang the chime to the counselors office, and took a moment to straighten her uniform.

David quickly finished up the bit of unpacking he was doing and walked to the door, opening it to the Vulcan ensign standing in the corridor. “Come in!” he welcomed her, stepping to the side to allow her entry. “Sorry about the mess, I’m still getting all my things unpacked. T’mor, right?”“Correct, sir.” T’Mor stated, stepping through the door.
He crossed to the chairs in the corner, then turned back to her. “Would you like any refreshments while we talk?” he asked, waiting for her reply before he sat.
Lt. JG David Morris
CNS“That will not be necessary,” she said, taking the cue to sit in the opposite chair. She took up her usual position, leaning slightly slightly back from perfectly straight. Her legs loosely crossed at the ankles and her hands resting on her lap. “Thank you for the offer.” she said with a subtle nod.
“It is not typical for Vulcans to require long counseling sessions,” she blurted out, though still using her typical steady voice. “This evaluation will likely be very brief.”

David noted the slight abnormality in her speech pattern, but simply put it in the back of his mind to work through and remember. “Likely,” he said amicably. “I try not to keep people here too long if they have other places to be.” He crossed his own legs, keeping his posture overall open. “So,” he said, starting with his preferred first topic, “what brought you to Starfleet?”Lt. JG David Morris
CNS“It was one of the best options to continue studying in my field of interest.” T’Mor stated plainly. “The ability to continue to study not only known botanical life forms, but also to be ‘on the frontlines’, as one might say, of discovering new specimens.”

OOC: Sorry!IC:
David smiled. “That’s good reasoning. I imagine it’s probably exciting as a scientist to be discovering new things all the time. What would you say your strong points are as an officer?” He leaned back and gave her time to think, folding his hands.Lt. JG Morris
CNS/Medic“My expertise in biological sciences brings benefits to both the science department, as well as the medical department when necessary. I recognize the need to collaborate with others with different knowledge and perspectives. When I must cooperate with others, I do so without the burdens of feeling pride or arrogance.” T’Mor responded. Her calm and cool tone made it seem like she was reading points right off a resume.

“Excellent, knowing where you’re strong is a good thing,” David noted, gently smiling as always. “And what would you consider weaknesses to be? I’m not judging your skillset, you’re obviously qualified, but where do you feel you could improve?”He slightly shifted posture and watched the Vulcan as she responded, maintaining his expression warmly neutral.Lt. JG David Morris
CNS/MedicT’Mor blinked, almost a tiny flinch.
“Weaknesses? Well I - ” She did expect to be asked so directly. During a small pause she considered what to say next.
“I suppose you could say I am… inexperienced when it comes to how to conduct myself as an officer. How to interact with crew mates or deal unexpected situations. It is significantly different than an academic setting.”

“Interesting,” David mused. “What would you find to be the biggest differences from what you’re used to?”
Lt. JG Morris
CNS/Medic“For example, in an academic setting, one can afford to be more cautious. A decision in a laboratory is rarely ever life or death. Even when conducting field research, there is a better understanding of the challenges one might face and how to prepare for them. Being abroad a Starship, however, we are faced with new challenges. Unexpected risks,”
T’Mor’s speech sped up, her eyes began to unfocus and wander downward.
“There is a greater responsibility for everyone to make the best decision at any given time. The health and lives of everyone onboard are almost constantly at risk. Every second counts. Every decision counts. You cannot afford to make mistakes. The stress this creates is noticeable,” T’Mor paused. She sat back up, pulled down on her uniform to straighten it. Looking back up at David, she clarified,
“Noticeable in others, other crew members.”

David definitely caught it this time, but also caught the mask she was holding up and decided to go about this carefully. “I agree, it can be a lot of stress. One thing I’ve personally found useful is to realize not all the responsibility rests on me at any given point, as well as knowing which situations are critical and which can afford a mistake or more time. Perhaps -” he paused, making direct eye contact, “you could pass that on to the other crew members you’ve noticed this in?”
Lieutenant JG Morris
CNS
“I will, Counselor.” T’Mor said with a nod. She suspected David had caught on. It was an obvious display of her emotions, another Vulcan would have deemed it an outburst. Whether or not she trusted David, he might have already figured it out.

{OOC: Let me know if this is a good stopping point. We could continue or coordinate another session later if that seems in character. ~Ava}
