“Uh, Captain?” said Commander Wells, “Well, this might be an odd time to point out that I keep a personal force field device on myself activated most of the time… that and we are approaching the coordinates now.”

Remy looked to Wells as f to ask “WhY would you do that?” But instead said, “Den you are mos’ likely no’ infected. Are dere any oder ships in de area?”

“Negative, sir,” said Wells, “No ships detected though we are ahead of schedule of the appointed time.”

OOC: I’m putting this in here to make the Bridge Thread and the Engineering thread match up.

Remy’s voice came over the comm, annoyance clear in his tone. =^=Petrov, you ‘ave sometine to report?=^=

=^=Two options at this point. Drain the ships power to use the transporter to fix the effected crew. The other is to use the improbability drive and take a big chance that it wont work and who knows what will happen. However this is an improbable situation and as such should fit right in. =^=

Petrov CE

Sharise could feel the XO’s pain and knew they had only one option. Hooking an arm in his, she steadied Bryson. “Come on, we’re going to Sickbay. We’re get there eventually, and hey, let’s see if we can mange without needing a site-to-site transporter,” she joked weakly.

Remy smiled at Ayla’s attempt at humor and assisted the two the the turbolift. As the doors swooshed close, he replied to Petrov.

=^ Needer op-SHON is ‘igh on my list of choices, Petrov.” He left the channel open as he addressed Wells again.

“Commander, you’ opinion on usine the II drive to fix. . . .dis situa-SHON?”

“Mr. Petrov’s assessment of using the drive is correct,” said Wells, “I would have to go assist with preparations if that is what you wish to do, sir. Keep in mind of the… temporary side effects, Captain. Though, I would recommend the usage of the drive after meeting our intended rendezvous.”

OOC: Pasting in the rest of the conversation from Petrov and editing my reply a bit.

“Is Wells infected? I can’t risk engineering being compromised. In fact I have locked out engineering against the possibility. We can do this over a com link if needed. If she is infected that is.”

He did not want to let that cat out of the bag but now was as good a time as ever. He had no idea how the Captain would take that news nor did he really care.

Petrov CE

“I have a personal force field, Mr. Petrov, which I keep active on me. That would be a no. But I can make the adjustments from the Engineering console on the Bridge… Though the AI subsystem is a bit odd to deal with,” replied Wells, “Since you directed me to not power on the said drive, it remains installed, and offline. We’d need to run the initial integration tests before we use it and turn on EDDIE, the AI subsystem.”

Remy considered Wells’ words carefully, taking into account everything that had happened on this mission so far. Plus, they still hadn’t gotten any information on the Underspace. If things didn’t get straightened out soon, this whole mission would be a scrub.

“De side effects, oui,” he said to no one in particular.

With a sigh and conviction in his voice, he continued. “Cmdr. Wells, prep de II drive from up ‘ere. We’ll meet our new informant first to see what ‘e ‘as to share. After dat, I’ll decide if we will use it. ‘Ow long will it take to get ready?”

“An hour or two, Captain,” said Commander Wells.

=/\= Science to Bridge. Captain, the Chief Medical officer and I may have a solution to the infection. We should be able to synthesize the medication, but there is a small chance that it will cause a mutation to the bacteria and we will have to start over. Permission to begin creating the medication? =/\=

=^=Dat is de best news I ‘ave ‘eard all day, Mr. Ahearn,=^= Remy replied as a slight bit of relief washed over him. For the first time since he took command, he wished he had a Vulcan on board to offer specifics on that “slight” chance of mutation. Still, he trusted Ahearn. The Orion was his chief science officer for a reason and that was to come up with solutions to situations such as this. Between Ahearn and Dr. Shaidi, he felt their chances for success were pretty good.

“Dat is what de current plan is, Commander, unless fate wans to trow us another curveball,” the CO answered.
