Posted by… suppressed (11) by the Post Ghost! 👻The log droned on, as the EMH gave a detailed report, “… thanks to the brilliance of Kes and my excellent mentorship to her medical training, we suspect that a virus is living within the bacteria, thus making the bacteria immune to anti-bacterial agents…”
The report continued on as the EMH detailed the solution.
“All right..” If it were immune to anti-bacterials, then it seemed foolish to attempt to use them again, even if this were a slightly different virus. As the EMH droned on, she listened to his solution, from attempting with Anti-Virals, until treating the virus like they would in any human body: by heating it up. Like a fever.
The only way she could really be certain of these solutions for their issue, was to know whether or not there was also a virus inside of the bacteria sickbay had been sent.
Turning back to the information given, she looked to see if they had found a similar virus housed by the bacteria science had been studying.
The data from the computer showed that the it was the same bacteria virual combination.
Celador looked around at the busy doctors and nurses. “Hey, I don’t feel comfortable just sitting here in plain view. I’m going to the holodeck to disappear for a bit.” Cel explained, jumping off the biobed. “If you need me, call me.” he explained and walked out of sickbay.

“Ensi-.” Greve sighed, shaking her head with the boy disappeared from the Sickbay. Grumbling, she returned to what happened to be more important than babysitting a restless Ensign.

CMOOOC: This is all assuming that the EMH described their choice to use a plasma burst, in attempt to achieve the heat needed to obliterate the virus. Please correct me, if I misread that. :)
TrinOOC: Correct.
IC:
It was odd, however, that none of the current people infected showed any signs of fever, just an upset stomach. If it was only a fever they needed to induce for the patients, wouldn’t the body fight off the infection on its own? There was something that was different about the viral infection of the bacteria that caused an upset stomach. But computer simulations still showed the bacteria, thanks to it’s viral component, would be strong enough to resist antibiotics.
GM
If the patients were experiencing some kind of upset stomach because of the bacteria, she assumed it had to be attacking the gastrointestinal tract or the lining of the stomach. Those seemed the areas that would be most likely of attack by any bacterial infection, if it were even that to begin with. Glancing over the information, if they had any on the patients themselves, she looked to see if there was any specific data on whether or not their cramping was found as a result of a flu-like issue, meaning it would have had more symptoms than just the cramping, or if it were solely cramping, which may had led towards an intestinal attack of some sort. By knowing which type, she thought of whether or not she could look into the treatment of the specific bacteria that caused such things, and see if that would coincide with treating the bacterial illness.. But that all depended if the stomach was a sign of symptom.. Or if the attack was on the stomach, itself.
Lt. Shaidi
CMOThe information she was looking for was unavailable… due the fact that the said patients were not in sickbay yet.
OOC: <evil grin>
GM
OOC: Oh goodness..

Shaidi rubbed her face, “Great.. Something else to make this more difficult.” She turned to the computer and asked it to locate the patients, if they were on the ship.

CMOA few moments later both the XO and CNS stepped into the tiny medical bay. Commander Erin groaned once more, not from pain , but at the sight of the EMH. It’s not that the XO didn’t trust them, but merely because the situation had deteriorated down to the need of one.
“I’m assuming you’ve hit a dead end, Doc?” The Commander asked as he took a seat on one of the bio beds.
XO
“Dead end is one way to put it, Commander.” The Orion sighed, pinching the bridge of a slim nose. Turning away from the irritating situation, she briefly studied the XO, scanning for any visible sign of injury; it was simply in her nature.
“What can I do for you, Commander?” She inquired, raising an eyebrow over at him.
Dr. Shaidi
CMO“Well......” Commander Erin said, hoping the CMO would remember. “The Counselor and I seem to have whatever is floating around in the air.” Bryson stated. The XO turned to the CNS. “Not long after returning from the station, we started to feel very ill and had extreme stomach pains.”
XO
“Then please, Commander, do sit down. If you’re standing for too long, it could only make things worse.” She gently reached out, but didn’t touch him, gesturing for him to take a seat, the same to the CNS, on nearby biobeds. For a second, she refrained questions.
Both officers had the overwhelming urge to throw up after Commander Erin finished his sentence.

CMO“Better get me a bin!” The Commander called out as he heeled over and began dry heaving. Thankfully, the XO hadn’t eaten anything in the past few hours, so there weren’t any solids being expelled. Once Bryson finally sat back up, he looked over at the CNS.
Shaidi rushed over with a bin and a recorder, which had taken her a second. Handing it to the man, she quickly ran a scan, checking for two major questions:
- Was this virus strictly in his stomach, or had it moved to the remainder of the digestive tract?
The tricorder scans showed it had spread to the digestive tract.
“Okay, that’s helpful.” She hummed, glad to know that the disease was capable of spreading, which gave her more information on how to treat it.
- Was this a cross-species, or a hybrid of any kind, that could be told?
OOC: not sure of your question here…
OOC: Meaning, is it a combination of two different species, or is it completely original in its DNA structure. Sorry for the confusion!
“Hanging in there?” He asked.
XO
Shaidi didn’t say anything, turning to get them both a glass of water, in case they needed the hydration. Which, with any vomitting, she knew they would.
Dr. Shaidi
CMOAyla was actually shaking from how ill she was feeling and just barely managed to roll on her side. Like Bryson, there wasn’t really anything to throw up, but the impulse was terribly painful and not only was she having to force herself to breath so she didn’t hyperventilate, the exertion was causing sweat to bead on her ridged forehead.
Lt. Sharise, CNS
Retrieveing a blanket, she quickly made her way over to Sharise, draping the cloth of her, and gently stroking her back for a second. There wasn’t much that could be done, until the antibiotic could be synthesized. Thus, until then, she could only treat it with general medicine.
Turning away, she retrieved an oral solution by the name of Emetrol. Once they had ceased dry heaving for a moment, she would offer them the oral tablets, which were intended to ease nausea and upset stomachs. However, she wasn’t certain how effective they might be on this bacteria.
Dr. Shaidi
The pain was much more tolerable but they only felt it occasionally. It helped managed the symptoms but it was still there.
GM
“When you’re both feeling a bit better, I want to get a few blood samples. Maybe we can get a better look into what we’re working with. All right?”
Dr. Shaidi
