=^= Petty Officer Osa, please report to the Bridge. =^= Commander Erin called out. Bryson was intending on having him work with Petrov on figuring out the storage box.
The Petty Officer startled. He was not expecting this. Still, he figured he would be polite and respond. =^=Acknowledged. On my way sir.=^= He left his quarters and made his way to the turbolift. “Bridge.” He said to the turbolift, and it began to move.
Erin
aCOAlita nodded at Brysone and opened the comms channel.
=^=Commander Claire to the away team. Requesting sit rep.=^=
- Alita, MO/COS/CIO
The next log came up. “Captain’s Log. We have been about the planet Myst for one standard day now. After initial attempts to contact the archaeological and scientific teams on the planet had failed we beamed a small team down to the world to investigate. Their results were conclusive. Their subspace transmitter was damaged. Security Lieutenant JP Larssen reported that it was not mechanical failure but deliberate through blunt force. As yet there is no trace of the scientific teams. Lt Larssen reported the camp to have been disturbed however not ransacked. Blood traces were found near the edge of the camp. Doctor Bartley is examining them. The Wis and Kein are in the system. We have initiated diplomatic transmissions. As yet there has been no response but that their ships have drawn closer in their maneuvering. The ‘tide’ is high now and our transporters are not able to lock onto the away team. They have been instructed to lay low and report in at standard intervals.”
- wookiee“Ok some of that makes sense but where is the Captain and the CMO if they stayed on the ship?” Petrov asked. “And to answer your question many times the wolf steps back if it sees the bear coming for the same prey.”
Of course it was a bear as Petrov was Russian by descent.
Petrov CE
“Hmm…” Bryson stated. They hadn’t heard from the away team yet, but was sure they would have found some sign that someone else was on the planet by now. “Lets play the next one, and hopefully we’ll have the answers”. Commander Erin wasn’t too keen on the idea of sending another team to that ship without finding out where its CO and Medical Officer went.
Erin
aXOThe petty officer stepped onto the bridge at that moment. He looked around for a bit before seeing the captain. Then he walked over to where they are.
“Petty Officer Osa reporting sir.”
Petty Officer Ekoagroh Osa
“Mister Osa, I was hoping you and Commander Petrov could take a look at the power container thing that Alita found on the science ship.” Commander Erin said, motioning towards the box. “Our Security Chief was thinking it could have been configured to hold a lot more power than it’s designed to, but we’ll need the both of you to confirm and maybe dissect it.”
Erin
aCOOsa walked over to the box. “This is interesting. I don’t think I’ve seen anything quite like it before.” He said in a fascinated tone. “This will certainly be interesting.” He said, more to himself than anyone else. He began looking the box over.
“Captain’s Log. We have arrived at the Myst system. Initial communication attempts with the archaeological team has been unsuccessful. Life sign scans have revealed an initial trace within the mists yet at a depth to not be definitive beyond detecting 4 life signs beyond where the campsite was detected. However, near the fourth planet we had detected the traces of a battle with faint Wis and Kein signatures. We have identified a Kein escape pod that is on a dangerous trajectory and holds a 83.76 percent chance of burning up as it encounters the atmosphere. We are moving on an intercept to rescue it.”
“Captain’s Log. Supplemental. The pod was too large for our bay to take on. The sole occupant, a Kein female, was beamed unconscious to sickbay. The escape pod has burned up as it passed through the atmosphere. Doctor Bartley is attending. In spite of the different physiology that is mostly unknown to Federation medical science, she believes that the patient is stable. Our actions have caught the attention of a Wis vessel on the outskirts of the system. We are monitoring, however our priority is the archaeological team. We are preparing a team to attend the campsite to investigate their absence and lack of communication pings from their transmitter.”
- WookieeOsa pretended he didn’t hear these. He assumed they weren’t for his knowledge and thought it best to forget it even happened.
Petty Officer Ekoagroh Osa
As Alita was listening tot he Captain’s logs, she was also attempting different means and frequencies of communication in order to raise the away team. She caught herself softly swearing in a strange mixture of Vulcan and Cajun and immediately stopped. Sighing, she glanced at Osa out of a need for distraction and curiosity’s sake.
T’Mor continued adding to her notes, trying not to become to nervous. It took steady, intentional breaths for her to maintain her otherwise stoic composure.
“Quite curious,” T’Mor pondered, “One would assume if this female Kein was still alive and onboard, her lifesigns would have been detected. Therefore, if this were true, she must either be onboard, but deceased, or she accompanied the rest of the crew when they evacuated the Pythagoras.”
She turned toward the COS, “Did you find any evidence of either of these possibilities?”
“No, actually I did not. However, there is a third possibility. We don’t know these Kein and even the log said how alien their physiology is. Perhaps they’re able to deceive our sensors. Wouldn’t that just be our luck?”
- Alita, MO/COS/CIO
“That’s a clever hypothesis, Commander,” Bryson stated, his mind churning with further options to explore. “Alita, update T’Mor on the box our Ops Specialist is currently observing.” The aCO said, “Once up to speed, I want you, T’Mor, Petty Officer Osa, and Commander Petrov to head down to Engineering to further examine it.” Bryson then turned to his COS. “Once that’s completed, I want you and Commander Petrov to head back over to the Pythagoras and examine the ship more thoroughly.” With Commander Erin now knowing that he probably wouldn’t be able to contact the away time anytime soon, they needed to find other ways to get answers to their questions.
“Now that you have your orders, get to it.” Bryson exclaimed with a snap of his fingers.
Erin
aCOAlita made her way to the CSO.
“I really don’t have much to update about. It’s a storage device of some kind and I didn’t think it would be safe beaming it over. That’s why we called for the shuttle. I thought it might actually be holding people’s transporter patterns but, I leave it in your capable hands.”
- Alita, MO/COS/CIO
OOC: As was said above and just clarifying .. there might be traces in sickbay on the Pythagoras but it was not investigated there yet physically to be that close to pick up stray cellular information. And the ‘box’ is more of a tube .. a cylinder with a small display on the side and a blue light rimming one end.
- GeneOOC: Thanks for the description again, I was trying to find it >.< -Ray
Bryson looked around the Bridge and relaxed a bit, for the most part, they had everything covered. Petrov and the Security Chief should be heading to the Pythagoras, while T’Mor and Osa are down in Engineering taking a look at the container. The only person that didn’t have a task to do would be his Counselor, Lieutenant Morris.
Commander Erin, in the meantime, took a seat in the center chair. “Do we have any new reports on the nearby activity?” Bryson asked out to his bridge crew.

In the last little while ..
The Myst sun had emitted a solar flare that was slowly making its way in their direction. It wouldn’t affect anything but may make communications spotty - aka some static, but it was yet a while in coming to them and was not about to make any kind of direct ‘hit’ figuratively speaking. ETA was in some hours yet. The interesting thing would be more scientific in that its passage through the gaseous clouds were generating an almost aurora borealis effect.
An additional Wis ship had entered the system at the far reaches and the two Wis ships were moving to a rendezvous. The Kein ship has moved off because of that and is moving more in system but not on a course that would put it that close to you.
Sensors do pick up what ‘might’ be another ship. It was just a trace and was located in a mineral rich area of the ‘conglomerate’ proto-world. It could just as easily have been a detection of the mineral content but for a moment sensors suggested it was of a refined nature. Alas it was only a ‘moment’ before the planetoid shifted and either what was detected was a) not there and a false reading or b) possibly something or c) a prospector ship from any of the races interested in the system having a ship there.
Wookiee
“Let us maintain position for now,” Commander Erin announced to the NE at Helm. The aCO was told that the only system that could be affected were comms, so he wasn’t too concerned with the flare. His main concern was the possible ship readings the Wolverine received near the proto world. Bryson decided that their priority would be on the Pythagoras and the strange thing being examined down in Engineering.
aCO
Bryson broke the awkward silence and turned to his NE at Operations. “Would a probe be able to give us better readings on the possible ship near the proto world?” The aCO asked, “Maybe they’d have some more answers for us.”
Erin
aCOBasil was manning his station at Tactical, an uneasiness growing as he monitored the Kein and Wis vessels. It wasn’t helped by the possibility of another ship entering. “If we were to send a probe sir,” Basil said in his Scottish accent that turned his S’s to Sh’s, “It seems it would be best to do so now before the flare has the chance to affect the relay of its findings. Perhaps we can focus long-range sensors on the area in the meantime?” Basil looked once more to where the Pythagoras was on his monitors and thought of COS Alita onboard. With what they were able to get from the Pythagoras Captain’s logs, Basil didn’t like having too many of the crew away from the Wolverine.
Bryson nodded in agreement. “Send out a probe towards the proto world where that ship could be,” The aCO ordered, finally taking a seat in the center chair. “Once this flare runs its course we should be able to receive the data from the probe.” Commander Erin stated. “While it’s launching, see if our long range scanners can pick it up.” He added, not holding out hope.
Erin
aCOBasil nodded and carried out the order, launching the probe toward where the anomaly had registered. “Probe launched sir,” he said looking up from his panel.
-Petty Officer Bake (Tac/Spec)
Sensors could lock onto the planetoid and derive some data from it - that it looked to be something that was a cluster of rocks packed together like a gravel pocked snowball but on a rather larger scale. It was mineral rick with heavy ores. The sensor trace that they had gotten which they were investigating was not in direct sight, having turned in its slow orbit away from their position. The probe should take care of that once it arrived.
- Wookiee“Sir,” Basil said as he registered the readings coming in, “Scans show that the planetoid isn’t altogether solid.” Basil attempted to make sense of the readings, “I seems that the planetoid is made up of several bodies held together. I’m detecting a lot of mineral deposits. However, nothing on that odd sensor reading yet, sir. Hopefully the probe will be able to give us a clearer picture.”
“Would make for a good mining establishment…” Commander Erin muttered as he concentrated on the scans. “Let me know what comes in when the probe gets into range.”
Erin
aCOOOC: Inputting a cross-post.
=^=I’ve detected Romulan DNA sir. I need to run further scans to find out how old it is. I thought you would want to know.=^=
- Alita, MO/COS/CIO
=^= Understood, Commander.=^= Bryson called out. It would be only a few more seconds before the probe began sending back data, and he was hoping that possible reading was not a Romulan ship. =^= We might have a ship hiding out in the proto world, but we should find out in a few moments. Is there anything else of value found?=^=
Erin
aCO
=^=We’ll download the logs we found in sickbay=^= she replied.
