“I wouldn’t call it ‘haunting’ per say, although, you may be onto a fair track there, Captain.” She turned to the PaDS beside her, pulling up his file, to see if she could find any information on what radiation he might have been exposed to during that period of time.

“Radiation is known to have harmful effects on the body, even in the reproductive organs of humans. Male and female.” She remarked, “It may not show up quickly, but radiation can impact things like your fertility or ability to impregnate, your germinal epithelium, your general endurance, your hormome levels and more. It depends strictly on the radiation your body was susceptible to.”

Dr. Shaidi
CMO

“Dat ‘as to be it,” Remy replied hopefully. “I was tryine to deactivate a ‘dirty bomb’ when it went off. It was a low level of radia-SHON, but I was caught directly in de blast. I suffered severe burns to my torso an’ upper body. After de reconstructive surgery an’ treatment, de doctors gave me a clean bill of ‘ealth. Could de have missed sometine?”

Boudreaux (CO)

“They most certainly could of.” Greve turned away for a second. “I’m going to get a blood sample from you to analyze, and see if there are heightened levels of radiation. Specifically into ionizing radiation. It would be the most impactful, when dealing with a bomb, that is. The thermal radiation might have given you the burns, but it is possible that the ionizing– in whatever form it took, could be the root of your problems here, sir.”

Dr. Shaidi
CMO

Remy took a deep breath and relaxed just a bit. It felt good to be coming closer to a possible answer. If that was the case, they now had something to work with and figure out some way to get the radiation out of his system once and for all.

“I ‘ave complete fait in you, doctor. I am ‘opine you are on de right track an’ believe you will be able to come up wit’ an effective treatment.”

OOC: I am completely open to the idea that this might be causing the problem and that’s fine if you want to take it in that direction and find a cure!!

Boudreaux (CO)

OOC: Okay! It would be interesting to try and reverse the impact of radiation. Right now, it isn’t so easily done. But, hey, these guys are in the future— who knows what is possible! Lol

IC: “I can only do my best, Captain.” Greve retrieved a devise in order to take what she needed of his blood, which happened to be a very minimal amount, in the grand scheme of things. “Roll you sleeve up and hold out your arm for me, sir.”

Dr. Shaidi
CMO

He pulled the sleeve up to reveal his forearm and extended it as requested. As Greve drew the blood, he said with a grin, “I am you’ guinea pig, doctor. Do wit’ me as you will. Jus’ don’ make de problem worse, please, I do ‘ave a reputa-SHON to up’old.”

Boudreaux (CO)

“I prefer not to call my patients guinea pigs, sir.” There was a smile within her words and upon her face. “Although, I will do my best to figure out the best course of action to treating your symptoms, if my hypothesis regarding the radiation is correct.” She pulled the device away, tapping it to ensure the amount of blood she had retrieved from the man. Turning, she set it into a specific spot, along with her other tools. “You can either wait for the test results, or I can comm you, when they have come in. It shouldn’t take anything more than half an hour, depending on how slim the radiation levels are.”

Dr. Shaidi
CMO

Rolling the sleeve back down, Remy said, “I would prefer to wait, if dat is okay wit’ you? I ‘ave de patience of a saint.”

“If that is what you prefer, Captain.” She smiled over at the man, inclining her head in acknolwedgement to his decision.

The captain slid off the bio bed and strolled casually around the Sickbay, giving it a subdued inspection.

“I know de Wolverine’s sickbay is probably not what you are used to doctor, but I ‘ope it is adequate? I guess de designers decided a small crew would inly need a small medical bay, no?”

Boudreaux (CO)

“I suppose they did. Most would not incorporate the thought of a vast majority of a crew being injured, or any extreme scenarios like that. Although, it seems Wolverine is prone to such things, no?”

“Oui,” he replied.

“It is small, but my staff and I make it work. It might be a small bay, but they certainly do their damndest to give each patient the treatment they deserve.” She glanced at a few of the officers, “Fairly impressive, really.”

Lt. Shaidi
CMO

“Good. I am glad you find it to satifactory to you’ needs. An’ considerine, she is a battleship, I will do my damnedest to keep you from ever gettine too busy.”

Boudreaux (CO)

“All you gotta do is try and keep your people from hurting themselves. And that, Captain, seems to be harder than anything else.” She glanced at the scans to see how far they were coming along, finding they would be done soon. “How long have you been on this ship, sir, if I may ask?”

Lt. Shaidi
CMO

Remy stopped his inspection of sickbay and leaned back against a bio bed. “Only for a year or so. De Wolverine was just recently commis-SHONED, and Command felt my years an’ experience serving in Intelligence would be a perfect fit for dis type of ship wit’ dese specific mis-SHON profile. Commandine a science or exploratory vessel would no’ suit me. No offense, doctor, but I tink dose type of mis-SHONS would bore m to deat’. Don’ wan’ to sound cliche, but I am a man of act0SHON.”

Boudreaux (CO)

“None taken, Captain.” Greve waved a hand to him, tilting her head slightly to one side. “I wouldn’t doubt that, judging from what little I’ve seem. Wolverine is an idiosyncratic ship, it bears no surprise that it might require a unique crew, nonetheless, a unique captain.”

Moving over to the scans, she picked up the PaDD to see what they were dealing with here.

Dr. Shaidi
CMO

“Mos’ definitely a unique crew, Dr. I ‘and picked the original crew for certain skills they all possessed. Skills dat would come in ‘andy for dese covert opera-SHONS we are assigned. I ‘ave been fortunate dat Command ‘as sent me qualified individuals to replace dose dat ‘ave been lost, even if dere pasts are a bit checkered, you might say.”

“‘Checkered?’” Greve didn’t seem to quite understand what he mean by that. There were a few phrases and words that went over her head. “Yes, Command seems to agree with your vision, in those they send to replace other officers.”

OOC: I’m gonna leave that up to you, unless you want me to come up with some medical reason, lol.
Trin

The scans would reveal a small trace of the same radiation he was exposed to previously. An amount so minute that it would have escaped detection had Greve not been looking for it specifically. Remy’s previous records had shown that the poisoning had been completely eradicated from his body. Unfortunately, it appeared a mistake had been made, and that little bit, along with the recent time jump and exposure to chronitons resulted in the radiation awakening from a dormant state. If that was the case, the radiation would have to be removed quickly for fear of it spreading like a cancer throughout his body.

Boudreaux (CO)

Greve rose an eyebrow at the results, but she couldn’t say she was completely caught off guard with what was shown before her. “Well, Captain, it looks as if that little radiation buddy wasn’t completely taken care of.” She turned to the man, “Whatever you have been through, recently, has resulted in the reawakening of a dormant strand of radiation, which seems to be the source of your problems,” Greve fell quiet for a second, considering some plans of action.

“Damn, dat 31. Still screwine wit’ my life,” Remy grumbled.

“We could try first treating your with Hyronalin. It is a drug designed to treat radiation poison. It might be able to help with the levels of radiation in your body. If that doesn’t work, there are a few other things we can look into. But I don’t want to do anything major until I’m positive the Hyronalin isn’t working.” She nodded to him, “How do you feel about that? We cannot go on without any action, as this radiation could spread like cancer or cause cancer in your body.”

Lt. Shaidi
CMO

Composing himself, the CO replied, “I defer to you’ expertise, doctor. Whatever you feel is de best course of act-SHON.”

Boudreaux (CO)

“It is the least invasive to you, and will allow you to return to duty ASAP. Other approached would take time. So, better to knock out the easy ones first, eh?” She smiled, preparing the hypo. Making her way over, she glanced over to see if he was ready or had any protest.

Dr. Shaidi

Remy offered her a nod, then turned his head to give the doctor access to his neck. When the hissing of the hypo ceased, he reached up to touch the spot Greve had applied the medication.

“Any side effects I should be aware of?”

Boudreaux (CO)
