While his face remained unchanged, Sharise could sense a slight fear, although as quickly as it appeared it was gone. Sharise could also tell that Celador’s mind was racing, as he considered a response.

“Be careful LT.” He said calmy, but with hidden apprehension. “Before you start making accusations or observations in which you know nothing of. There maybe unforeseen consequences.”

“No one said anything about making accusations,” Sharise replied simply. It was here in that space between confrontation and discussion that the most could be revealed and she was most able to to get the pieces of a puzzle she might not have known she needed. “And I am always aware that in my work there is the potential for consequences I can’t prepare for. But I’m equally trained to deal with them.”

Celador shook his head.

“I am curious what consequences you are concerned about,” Ayla stated casually, though it was clearly more a question she wanted answered. Her gaze alone showed that she wasn’t going to be so easily put off.

Lt. Sharise, CNS

“Consequences that I don’t want to find out about either. I have said to much as it is.” He said, hoping that she would drop it and move on to something else. While he did lie, he knew what the consequences were if the truth was told or found out, to say otherwise would give more information then he wanted her to know at this point.

“Consequences don’t always have to be negative, but you seem to be concerned about negative ones simply from us talking. I only mentioned that I was very observant.” She leaned forward ever so slightly. “Don’t forget, I worked at the Tantalus Penal Colony. This isn’t my first show, Celador. Now, you brought up consequences, why be evasive now?” It was easy for people to see Ayla, hear her melodic voice and determine she was the soft type of counsellor who only wanted people to be happy and coexist in contentment. But they very quickly learned that not only was she no push over, but she wasn’t easily fooled. He was saying to her to protect himself . It might not be today, but she was going to find out. It was only a matter of time.

“Because,” He said solemnly, “Some things are better left for dead.” his voice was flat, unemotional, almost robotic.
