“You’re welcome,” Sharise said warmly. Shaidi had pegged the courage of this crew quite poignantly and Ayla had found herself nodding. “I’m not concerned about you settling into the ship, but what I want to know is how you think I can best support you? What do you think you need from me?” It wasn’t often that she could come to that particular question in that particular phrasing, but Greve had so far been very open with her and that boded well on many levels.

Lt. Sharise, CNS

The Counselor’s simple question came as a shock factor to the young Orion sitting vertical to her. It was such a mundane request, why had it been so startling to her? Greve did not fully understand it, herself. “From you?” Greve questioned, as if echoing the question in an alternate way. “I suppose nothing more than being someone to talk to, really. I understand my status to be a bit precarious for some people, despite all of the advancements we have made as a society. Thus, truly someone who would try to understand, is all that I could ask for.”

Doctor Shaidi

Sharise smiled sincerely. “Then that’s what you will get. My door will always be open to you, even if that means I’m off-duty. If you need me, call.”

“Now, if it’s okay with you, since you’re here, I thought we could flip the conversation a bit and discuss some things you should know about me. But we can schedule an appointment in Sickbay if you prefer.” Ayla knew it was important to have this conversation either way.
