USS Wolverine

OOC: Announcements -- Sim Summary So Far

I apologize for not getting to this sooner but the last couple of days has been hectic because of the July 4th holiday. That being said, this is a recap of the sim so far and the events from the prior sim that is more or less part of the sim. I will be primarily just highlighting key points.

From the previous sim:
Lt. Ford Prefect is on temporary assignment to the USS Wolverine due to the fact that the highly experimental and highly secretive Improbability Drive is fused to the ship, and through several bulkheads. Removal of the drive in its current state is not possible, and likely would probably require an activation of some sort for its removal, but no one has asked Lt. Prefect the current status or follow up, so he’s been left to himself with random NPC engineering staff possibly checking in once and awhile.

From the current sim:
It all started when the crew was assigned shore leave to Risa. While everyone was on Risa, Mado was on the ship to collect artifacts, and he found the Captain’s sword was one of them, plus some other potential items of the crew. Everything was peaceful, until a forcibly miniaturized K.I.T.T. (from Knight Rider) was placed on the Captain’s shuttle, and forced the shuttle to crash. Also as an attempted distraction, a Mickey Mouse Sorcerer’s Hat pin was delivered to sickbay, and when it was touched, the artifact activated, causing the sickbay to be flooded with a magical broom dumping water into sickbay.

After the attempt on the Captain’s life, Admiral Frederic made contact with Captain Boudreaux and explained the situation to him about what the artifacts are and talked about things like his sword, with Mado present. The crew was ordered by the XO and the CO to search for more additional artifacts without any context, leaving the majority of the crew unaware of the dangers that they present, and to figure out why the Captain was targetted.

Away Team 1 lead by the XO went to an antique shop, but was unable to purchase or find any specific artifacts. The intention was suppose to find information that might lead them somewhere but due to the fact that the away team lacked any finesse trying to deal with the shopkeeper and pretty much had no clue how to really deal with the value of the items of the antique shop, the shopkeeper became suspicious of them and acted rather brusque. While being frustrated, Petrov stepped outside for a breathe of fresh air… and then was kidnapped.

Away Team 2 lead by the CO found a district with warehouses, and found offices with antiques and brought them back to the ship with Mado and Fin’s assistance.

Later the XO tried to reach out to his network of contacts, and invariantly triggered Warehouse security protocols while trying to locate Petrov. The XO was looking into Admiral Frederic’s division discreetly but apparently that launched selective access restrictions to various officers he asked favors for. That lead to a conversation with Admiral Frederic and the XO, telling him to knock it off, and that the Wolverine was being reviewed over to see if they could handle Warehouse secrets.

Following that, Fin received a call from the Warehouse, from a Claudia Donovan, informing her that one of the cargo ships that normally delivers to the Warehouse had been attacked and all the artifacts were stolen. A meeting with Mado, CIO, XO and CO lead to Fin spilling the secret of the Warehouse and the nature of the Warehouse. Before it was just known as some unclassified super secret division of Starfleet Intelligence.

The Wolverine arrived at the Starbase where Warehouse containment equipment was picked and loaded. The artifacts on board were then promptly secured.

The last post thread is the Captain informing the crew of the nature of the Warehouse and the limited information he had. So far that is known is that it is a secret division of Starfleet Intelligence that is even more secret than Section 31, and that the artifacts have metaphysical properties that act contrary to known laws of physics. The Captain was now informing the crew of the current mission, and the apparent threat on his life. From Petrov’s capture and the stolen artifacts, it is apparent that there is another secret group which is acting against the Warehouse’s interests, and had initially captured Petrov for more information.

Background Info that Mado revealed:
“Warehouse 18 is a secret society organization that dates from all the way from ancient Earth times, that was built by Alexander the Great to store various artifacts that he collected from his war campaigns. It’s purpose has evolved over the centuries, with the last known great Warehouse on Earth… Warehouse 13… and its mission was to continuously house these artifacts. The warehouse is an ever self-expanding warehouse facility. We have one section of the area that is known as the dark vault simply because the objects are too dangerous to deal with. They have effects that curse people, kill people or have the potential to cause large scale destruction. Simply put, they are too dangerous to be left alone, and being kept under a special containment which is carefully sealed and monitored. With mankind’s exploration of the stars, so did the finding unusual artifacts of non-Earth origin as well, and the Warehouse has continued to collect artifacts since. It’s current location is something I can’t disclose because … well, simply put, I don’t know where it is. I am aware of my particular authorized way of going to the Warehouse, but its exact coordinates in space are… unknown. Ms. Donovan is the gatekeeper and she is the one that initializes whatever artifact transporter that allows people to enter the warehouse. All artifacts are delivered by way of a special courier, which then uses some clandestine way of travel to reach the Warehouse, which that said cargo ship was one of those couriers. As you can see, since Warehouse 13, our field agents have expanded and are simply no longer restricted to human species and human origin artifacts.”

Known artifacts:
Captain Boudreaux’s sword
A stone hexagon tile with a sheep on it
An ancient vase that seems extremely dangerous and deadly

Missing artifacts:

From the post –
“Captain Kirk’s glasses may have certain temporal effects, so you’ll need to handle that with care. The Nurse Garland 1947 hairpin may have temporal effects, as it is related to the time when the Ferengi Quark time travelled and was the cause of the Roswell incident. The knife that killed Gabriel Bell seems to cause wild emotions in others when held, so be careful with it. The twelve hexagonal stones are not to be kept together for long periods of time… they tend to disappear to the known corners of the galaxy when they do… which is why they have to be found… again. As for the Kurlan naiskos, and the related intergalactic spy agency items – the effects seemed to only activate under special conditions and vary from person to person. I’d be careful handling those… those being the Tal Shiar agent pin, the scroll owned by Enabran Tain and well… potentially the Starfleet Insignia owned by a Starfleet Security officer… my money says probably Section 31 related.”
