IC: Lenore leaned forward, sitting on the edge of the chair. “I hope you are trust worthy. I’m going to be frank with you. My time at the academy was oddly very short. My graduation hurried and quite untimely. As if they wanted rid of me. Honestly I have no idea why I was sent here to the Wolvarine. My background is nothing like most of the crews. I thought perhaps you were in on what ever is going on but now it’s apparent that you have no clue either.

The empath could sense the wariness and she leaned forward slightly, meeting Lenore’s gaze. “I don’t, no. But I can understand if you’re feeling frustrated and uneasy. the Academy is put forward as a fairly straightforward process lasting a certain amount of time. Even if you don’t fully know what to expect there are certain things you can count on. And when those expectations are tossed out the airlock, well, it can unsettling. The truth is that as an officer in Starfleet, the unexpected is as much the norm as the expected. And while it might take you time to settle and feel comfortable on this ship, you’re not the only one who has or is going through a less than simple transition here.” She smiled softly. “I think you’ll find in time that you have more in common with the others on this ship than you assume.”

Lenore listened carefully, and took a bit of comfort at the Councilor’s words. “I suppose time will tell,” she said with very little confidence. “Or as my Mother always use to say, “Wait and see, wait and see.” She wondered what would make herself even mention her Mother at a Psych exam.

“Well, in this case I think your mother has the right idea. Patience can be hard at times, but this is one situation where it will hopefully reward you,” Ayla said with a soft smile.

“Tell me a little about joining the Academy and picking your career. What drew you to medicine and serving in such a prestigious but competitive path of service.” Starfleet was all about having the best of the best and even the least ambitious and goal-oriented person who went through the Academy and became an officer was still at a minimum very intelligent and hard working. Otherwise they fizzled out and didn’t complete training. Some didn’t make it past their first few years in the fleet, and Ayla’s job had always been to help those who wanted to succeed to find their way, whether they eventually succeeded or not.
