The Wolverine arrived at the indicated Starbase that Admiral Frederic ordered, and the supplies were safely beamed aboard.

When the supplies were secured, Lt. Mado reached out to Lieutenant Fihnrilkk’Hob”ledn-ardol (Fin) to meet him in Cargo Bay 2 to observe the artifact transfer process from his Warehouse issued carpet bag to the artifact holding devices. He informed the Captain and First Officer of his activities via comm badge but left it open ended if they wanted to watch.

A few moments later, Remy strode into the cargo bay, extremely interested in what he was about to see. . . .

Close behind him came the XO. “Skipper. About time we laid on our eyes on the Mysterious and Weird world of Mr. Mado.”

Fin was only a step behind the XO. “Sorry, I was delayed. I was on a subspace call.” She walked over to where the others were gathered and looked at them all expectantly.

Alita slipped in quietly behind Fin. This was where she needed to be after all.

They found the containment devices set up, flowing with a purple goo, and they hummed a low pleasant pitch.

Mado brought out the small compact bag and put it on the ground. The bag expanded to a full size carpet bag. Reaching inside, he pulled out a pair of purple gloves. If one were to look, the bag appeared to be empty. Mado put on the purple gloves, and unlocked the containment devices. He pulled out one artifact one by one, out of their static bags, and placed each one carefully in individually in their own containment devices. Each time he did it, he turned away as if he was a mad scientist dropping dangerous liquid into a mixture. Depending on the size of the artifact or the danger, sparks arose briefly. The last one was a vase, which he had pulled out a pair of heavy grabbing device that were shaped to deal with glassware, and he slowly dipped the vase into the purple liquid, which generated a lot of electric shocks. Each time he dropped, he asked everyone to stand back. And each time, he sealed the containers after he dropped the artifact in and activated the containment device with a security code.

Remy paid close attention to what Mado was doing. Chances were, he, as well as many of the crew would have to repeat the process at one time or another. At first, he drew back as the static appeared each time. After the third item was dropped in, he was comfortable with the process.

“The artifacts are contained, Captain, Commander, Lt” said Mado, after he was done, “Unfortunately, the toy car has fully expanded to a full size vehicle, as you can see. I have placed it under a containment forcefield, linked with one of these containment units.”

“An’ de items, contained like dis, are ‘armless?” he asked.

“Mostly. It is advised to not interact them and stay away 2 meters away.”

The CO moved closer to the car contained in the forcefield. Now that the vehicle was full-sized, he was able to get a better look at. “1982 Pontiac Trans-am,” he said. “Bu’ what is so special about dis car dat it developed dese meta-physical properies, dat allow it to drain power from oder objects?”

“This car was featured in an old television show. On the television show, this fictional car had the ability to generate an EMP pulse. Over the years, as it was featured in a museum, the metaproperties somehow made its fictional properties a reality,” replied Mado.

Kadance had been dealing with a crewman having a breakdown about the stress over the artifacts. The meeting had run a bit long and she was late arriving in the Cargo Bay. Seeing the car, she suppressed a shiver. An artifact large enough to need two hands was one thing. One the size of that car was a bit daunting. Stepping up beside Reilly, she nodded to the others. “I take it that’s the bag he spoke of? The one that can contain the objects…” she paused finishing with a hint of distast, “albeit only for a finite amount of time?”

She took a step to her right to put a bit of distance between her and Jason. Habits were hard but they weren’t a couple anymore. It had been an amicable split, but it still hurt. And she had to remember to keep her distance professional now. “So where do we go from here?” She spoke for his ears alone, but anyone close by would hear. She was just trying not to interrupt the Captain and Mado talking.

Fin was aware of the Counselor’s presence and interested to see Jason’s reaction to the woman. She remembered seeing her picture on his desk and remarking that she was ‘stunning’—and she was.

Alita had been watching Mado with interest. If she had to replicate his process she needed to know exactly how to do it.

Reilly stood with his arms crossed on his chest, watching the process with interest. When Kadence spoke, he didn’t look at her, staying focused on the process, but his head tilted her way slightly. “Thats the bag and the… goo or whatever… and yeah. I think the bags have a timeframe they are viable, but the goo is I am guessing longer-lasting.” His were normal, professional but with a sense of friendly familiarity. His eyes stayed on the objects and how Mado handled them.

“That’s correct, Commander. The bags are made with this goo, but due to the thinness of the bag, the neutralizing effects are not as potent,” replied Mado, “The containers are connected with a power source, emit a field resonance that is adjusted to the metaphysical properties to energize the special liquid to reduce or neutralize the metaphysical properties.”

“See?” Reilly said with a smile. “I can be taught.”

Remy smirked and replied. Let’s ‘ope de rest o’ de crew catch on as quick as you, Mr. Reilly.”

Turning back to Mado, he asked, “De car is now inert, as long as it stays in de containment? I don’ wan’ to tink of de consequences if it sends out and EMP and leaves us dead in de water.”

Alita made a mental note to improve security or, perhaps, have the things under 24 hour guard.

“Unfortunately, Captain, devices with metaphysical properties behave strangely and unexpected ways. If someone were to enter the field and attempt to activate the EMP, there is no way to know what will happen unless someone does. Though, I have activated a forcefield to prevent such an occurrence. We can, at your discretion, meet with agents to secure the vehicle to the Warehouse, but only if you are certain you are done investigating for any other evidence in the vehicle. Of course, we can request agents to investigate the vehicle more thoroughly under controlled circumstances as well,” said Mado.
