Alita shifted her position and was able to muster proper decorum by the time she saw the look on Riley’s face.
‘Oh what fresh Hell is this?’ she thought and marveled at the fact that she was once again where she should be at just the right time.
- Alita, MO/COS
Reilly tossed the disk with the file he had been given on the Captain’s desk and then pounded the entire contents of the glass and motioned for another as he felt the slow burn take a bit of the edge off.
Remy looked at the disc, then back to Reilly for further explanation.
“Oh no… I got us some information. And Admiral Fredrick showed up in my quarters right after I started fishing.”
“She ‘as an annoyine ‘abit of doine dat,” Remy interjected.
“And then she told me that what I was looking at was useless, gave that -” and jerked his head at the disk, “- to me and then up and disappeared when my Intel contact called me back to tell me him and few others are suddenly having their security clearances audited and have been downgraded for some ‘unknown reason’. And quite frankly, Remy… if she and her shadow antique collectors can do all that inside of five minutes; then all of this running around and the associated jumping through hoops only served to get Petrov snagged. Fredrick told me the shop we were at didn’t have anything they were interested in. Would have been nice to know that before we went. Unless, of course, we were being used as bait… which means I will be even more pissed off than I am right now. I don’t mind being on the hook to attract the fish; but I damn sure want to know about it before I get eaten.”
Reilly, XO
Alita silently rose, took Riley’s glass, and poured him another generous helping as she listened in astonished horror then decided to pour more for herself and Remy as well.
- Alita
Reilly took the glass and nodded his thanks. “This is feeling more and more like a setup… and not a good one. More like showing up for a blind date and finding out your date is a Naussican.”
Reilly, XO
Remy accepted the glass from Alita, but refrained from imbibing at the moment. “Or you’ sister. . .” he added while smirking in Alita’s drection. “Never min’. My gut tells me dat we are no’ beine set up. . . .mo’ like . . . tested. Dere are enough skeletons in de closets of dis ship dat Frederic could bring us down if she wanted to. Dat would be more in line wit’ 31’s MO. Dey already ‘ave a mad-on ‘bout me, ‘cuz I can bring dem down. I tink Frederic wants us ‘cuz we are willine to cross de line if needed.”
“An’ de fact dat an artifact was used on an attempt on my life, and now Petrov beine abducted by someone usine an artifact, ties us to ‘er and ‘er Warehouse. By de way, any more word on Petrov? An’ what is on de disc she gave you?”
Boudreaux (CO)
Reilly shrugged. “Haven’t looked yet, Skipper. Figured I’d give you eyes-first so nothing gets filtered.” and he took a drink. “And yeah, she said as much… about being teste, that is. What is really confusing here, Skip, is that if we are being tested… then she knows how this ship operates. Why is she knocking d$%ks in the dirt for doing what it is we are usually doing? I mean hell… she probably brought more attention on her with that auditing stunt than if she had just let it go. Doesn’t makes sense… and it’s piss poor OpSec, if you ask me.”
Reilly, XO
Alita set her full glass down. Somehow the mention of sisters had sparked her interest. She hadn’t heard from her own sister, Olivia, since they parted ways three days before Alita joined the wolverine and Olivia joined a science vessel nut, at the moment it was more important to listen to these two men talk.
- Alita
“Not much is makine sense lately, Jason.” He took the disc Reilly offered and gave it a quick look. “Per’aps dere are some answers on ‘ere.”
He slid the disc into the computer and enlarged the screen, so all there of them could see what it was all about. . . .
Boudreaux (CO)
While Alita waited with Remy and the XO for the disc to begin playing, she drank the barest bit of bourbon in her glass, leaned over, and set it on the opposite edge of the table.
‘That was absolutely enough of that.’ she thought.
- Alita
OOC: I know Jason’s on LOA until 5/22, but wanted to post myself to get off AWOL and keep this on the board.
Remy waited patiently waiting for the disc to begin playing. . . .something. After another moment of nothing appearing, he cocked his head in Reilly’s direction and asked, “Dere is sometine to see, no?”
Boudreaux (CO)
Alita had been wondering the same thing but decided it hadn’t really been her place to ask. Instead, she bit her cheek to stifle a slight yawn. She knew she was where she needed, and wanted, to be but there were times when she could be incredibly impatient.

Bump
The security footage showed Petrov yawning and bored, as he left the shop. The shop’s holographic recording continued to show his position outside of the shop. Petrov walked around. An invisible pair of hands seemed to appear out of nowhere, and a cloth covered Petrov’s face. Then both disappeared.
The sensor data from the logs given showed that there was nothing unusual, other than the single bio signature disappeared. As for the pair of hands, the sensors did not register anything… Or the shopkeeper’s sensors and security system was insufficient to detect anything. Given the valuable artifacts the shopkeeper kept, the latter seemed unlikely. Either way, the data needed to tell who kidnapped Petrov, their height, size or anything else seemed not to be present. The data was confirmed to be intact, as the file signature’s identification showed a match, and that the type of security recording file could not be easily altered.
Records on the old lady showed she was an honest and upstanding Federation citizen who use to run several museums before retiring to Risa and setting up this store.
Reilly looked at them and said “Well… how’s that for a ten on the weird a$$ s%$# meter?”
Reilly, XO
If this wasn’t so important Alita would have laughed out loud. Luckily, knowing who she was and where she was kept everything in check.
“I’d like to tear that footage apart. Obviously there’s more to it. I don’t really care who’s examined it before, it hasn’t been me.” she stated quietly.
- Alita, MO/COS
Remy turned to Alita and said, “You are my security chief, ‘Lita. Tear it down, break it apart. . . .do whatever you need to do to tell me who kidnapped Lt. Petrov. Dey could be connected to whoever tried to kill me. . . .or not, but we ‘ave to start somewhere. . . .”
Boudreaux (CO)
“Probably is. The good Admiral said it was definitely one of her precious ‘artifacts’ put to use. What kind, she couldn’t… or wouldn’t… say.” Reilly replied.
Reilly, XO
The thought of someone trying to kill Remy hit Alita on several levels. Luckily the professional ones were in control at the moment.
“My pleasure Captain. I’m sorry Commander, I’m going to need the originals if you can spare them.”
Alita’s words were polite but she hoped Riley knew her well enough to understand that she wouldn’t take no for an answer.
- Alita, MO/COS
Reilly looked at her with a confused expression. “Why are you apologizing, Lieutenant? Take it. I made copies to spare.”
Reilly, XO
Alita nodded and took it. It wasn’t actually an apology but Anna and Miriam had raised polite young ladies.
“I can start this task here or retire to my office. If I need to, I will commandeer a holodeck.” she said sitting back down and beginning to work.
If the CO or XO wanted her gone, they’d say so.
- Alita, MO/COS
“Whatever suits you’ needs, ‘Lita. Recruit whoever you need as well.”
Remy turned back to his XO. “Adm. Frederic left it up to me as to who on de crew should know ‘bout de artifacts. I tried to to keep it as ‘need to know’, bu’ I tink it’s time de whole crew knows. Wit’ de wide diversity we ‘ave, maybe dere is someone else onboard dat ‘as ‘ad some experiences dey canno’ explain.”
Boudreaux (CO)
Reilly looked at Remy and looked slightky skeptical. “Well… thats your call, Skipper. But so far it seems like anyone knowing about these things gets a pretty sizable target painted on them. And these people won’t be in the Wolverine forever. Just make sure that the need for knowledge now is greater than the need for them not knowing later.”
Reilly, XO
Alita decided to stay where she was at the moment. Moving would probably be necessary later. As far as having a target painted on her back, she had the distinct feeling that had been the case ever since she had set foot on the Wolverine and probably wouldn’t have it any other way but, Riley was right.
- Alita, MO/COS
Remy considered Reilly’s words carefully. Most of the Wolverine’s crew already had a target on them, for one reason or another. If there was going to be another, they might as well know the reason why.
“We already seem to be a magnet for artifacts, Jason. De toy car, de pin floodine sick bay, de sword of Aramis. . . .all of de items ‘ave showed up ‘ere. De sword ‘as been in my posses-SHON for some time and I never knew of it’s properties. If de crew is aware of de artifacts, I’d like to tink dey would keep an eye out for dem, no?”
“Keep an eye out, yes. But you know as well as I do a few will also try and sell them… or use them for their own purposes. But if that’s the play you want, that’s the play we go with, Skipper.”
“‘Ave de crew assemble in Cargo B at 1400. It’s time dey knew.”
Boudreaux (CO)
“Aye aye, sir. I’ll handle it.” He looked at Alita and then back to Remy. He then looked at the floor, suppressed a grin, and stood up. “I’ll let you two get back to your… de-brief-ing. Have a good one.” and he stood and went to the door. “1400 Bay Bravo. See ya.” and the door slid closed.
