Mikel had suggested to the CNS to meet with her in his quarters where he had the replicators deliver a top notch dinner. This was the advantage of having the ability to override the usual settings and get them into custom mode. He wanted her here to have the privacy of saying things that could not be overheard by any of the XO’s supplicants. This part of his plan was going to be slow and thought out. Plus a beautiful women at dinner was something that he had not had the pleasure of in some time.

Petrov’s invitation to dinner, so soon, had risen the curiosity bells in Kadence’s mind. The Counselor guessed that he wanted to be in control of the situation as much as he could. And if he feared being recorded, that might be part of it as well.

Either way, she was soon outside his door wearing black slacks and a short sleeved silken material shirt of deepest sapphire blue. A simple silver torc around her neck, and a smaller one on her right wrist, were all the jewelry she had adorned. The only other piece on her was a bracelet on her left wrist that had a curious band and an even curiouser medallion on it. It didn’t match the torcs, torch, of their ancient earthen dragon heads. But it seemed to suit her rather well.

Her long, dark hair was pulled yo in a simple pony tail. And ankle boots off black finished her outfit.

Smoothing the front of her clothes almost absently, she then reached up to touch the tile that would chime her arrival to the occupant inside.

The door slid open and she was greeted by Petrov.

“Please come in.” He said.

The lights were lowered but not too low. The music inviting but not too inviting. His clothes casual but not too casual. The meal laid out on a two person table in his cabin was a nice setting but not overtly romantic. In short Mikel had covered his bases.

He pointed toward the table for her to sit.

“Anything to drink?” He asked casually.

Petrov (Planning who knows what)

Smiling as she entered, it wasn’t missed by the woman that he hadn’t gone overboard. She was pleasantly surprised and her reaction was genuine as she moved towards the table where he motioned. “Thank you. You look great. I have to keep reminding myself that I do have clothes besides my uniforms.” She laughed lightly and took a seat. “Ummm… what do you recommend to have with dinner?” She asked when he offered her a drink. She hated to ask for ale or tea if a good scotch or whiskey went better with the fare spread before them, in his eyes.

She actually visibly relaxed as she settled into the seat. In a small, dark place in the back of her mind, she admitted to herself she hadn’t expected to relax so soon. But he was a charming host and she wasn’t feeling on edge as she thought she might. “Did everything go all right for you today?” She laughed lightly. “I mean, I guess it’s the same as how was your day? isn’t it?” She laughed as she settled into her seat watching him move around.

“It went fine. Well I mean the XO was a little inconsiderate of my experience and even made a joke about me being kidnapped and tortured. I did not find it funny. Other than that it was just a debrief.” He answered.

He had fudged the truth a little and mixed it with a lie about the XO. Yes he did make a joke but it was not exactly about him being tortured. The best lie contains truth.

“Let’s not dwell on my bad luck but rather you.” He said smiling. “How are you getting on with the ship and crew?”

Thinking it odd that Reilly could be so crass, she frowned a moment. Something more must have transpired between them for the XO to say such a thing. “I’m sorry the debrief wasn’t better,” she offered as a way of support. When he changed the subject to her, she shrugged absently and took her napkin from the table to settle in her lap.

Nodding to his question, she smiled. “I am getting along fine, I suppose. The usual issues here like every other ship; isolation, separations, love interests, and trouble setting body rhythms to work schedules.” She didn’t mention she was missing her own companion. It had been months since she had gone on the last spec op mission that had nearly been her last. Had Reilly not come to her aid… she let the thought vanish. She missed being held more than anything else.

“I suppose there isn’t much excitement in my line of work to speak of.”

OOC: I am really interested to see where this thread goes. And Petrov smiled!!!

D…

“I don’t believe that for a moment. You must hear the most interesting stories as the CNS. Plus your the chief negotiator in a crisis and technically in the Command Staff. Theoretically you could be sitting in the Captains chair in a crisis. ” He said.

He was, if nothing else, a very skilled manipulator and very charming if it suited his needs. The fact he was enjoying her company actually made it easier for him as he did not have to fake the ease of the conversation.
