The Napean took the proffered hand as she sat in the other chair and gave it a firm squeeze while she bowed her head, as a compromise between greeting styles. Her hazel eyes gazed directly at Lenore and exuded warmth. “Welcome aboard the Wolverine, Lenore. I’m Ayla Sharise, the one and only counsellor aboard. And please, you can dispense with the ‘ma’ams’. I prefer a more casual space. Otherwise it makes it harder to have the open conversations people sometimes need to.”

Tucking a loose set of chocolate strands of hair that had fallen out of her single braid, her leaf shaped forehead ridge was prominently visible. “So, tell me about your last days at the Academy and what’s happened to this point. How’s the transition been?”

A look of suspicion crossed her dark eyes as a slender finger pushed her glasses back up the bridge of her nose. “My last days at the Academy?” She asked, “How has the transition been?” She thought to herself, No one here knows?. Shaking her head slightly and re gathering her thoughts realizing the counselor had no clue of the odd goings on before her arrival here. “Oh, yes well, there has yet to have been time for transitioning you see I have yet to settle in. It seems I’ve not even yet been assigned quarters. As for my last days at the Academy, not really much to tell.

OOC: There’s no bio posted for your character. If there are important things people should know, may I suggest you add them there? Ayla often does read people’s files before hand, but not always. Depends on the situation.

OOC: Sorry, I know....I’m making it up as I go along....unfortunately my character didn’t come predeveloped.

OOC: It’s fine. It’ll be my job to help prompt things that might help with character development. :)

“Really, nothing? Graduation usually is a big deal in the very least. And then your first assignment is a big transition. Nothing to speak of at all?” the empath asked, clearly not buying the dismissal by the ensign. Not that she wasn’t used to deflection, but it was only her first question. This could very well be a long meeting.

IC: Lenore leaned forward, sitting on the edge of the chair. “I hope you are trust worthy. I’m going to be frank with you. My time at the academy was oddly very short. My graduation hurried and quite untimely. As if they wanted rid of me. Honestly I have no idea why I was sent here to the Wolvarine. My background is nothing like most of the crews. I thought perhaps you were in on what ever is going on but now it’s apparent that you have no clue either.

The empath could sense the wariness and she leaned forward slightly, meeting Lenore’s gaze. “I don’t, no. But I can understand if you’re feeling frustrated and uneasy. the Academy is put forward as a fairly straightforward process lasting a certain amount of time. Even if you don’t fully know what to expect there are certain things you can count on. And when those expectations are tossed out the airlock, well, it can unsettling. The truth is that as an officer in Starfleet, the unexpected is as much the norm as the expected. And while it might take you time to settle and feel comfortable on this ship, you’re not the only one who has or is going through a less than simple transition here.” She smiled softly. “I think you’ll find in time that you have more in common with the others on this ship than you assume.”
