Entering his quarters after the staff briefing, Remy was frustrated by the events of the past few days. First, the shuttle trip to Risa was an attempt on his life. Next, was being shot at by automated security while trying to retrieve an artifact. . .

He grabbed a bottle of bourbon and slammed back a couple of long swallows before placing the bottle back on the counter. Now that that was out of the way, he filled a glass with his favorite liquor.

He was tempted to head back to the planet, incognito, to conduct his own investigation. To do things HIS way. Working alone had been his MO for longer than he cared to admit. But, that option was no longer feasible. Now, there was a responsibility to his ship and crew. They probably wouldn’t be too pleased with their CO if he took off. Having a missing Chief Engineer missing was enough of a problem he didn’t need to be part of the problem as well.

Still,sitting and waiting was frustrating. He needed a distraction. . . . .

It was a little while after the meeting and Alita’s thoughts were in a jumble. She knew what her responsibilities were to the ship and crew, she was certain she could carry them out, but didn’t like being kept completely in the dark. When Riley had got up and walked out she had half a mind to get up and walk after him to demand an explanation. He was arrogant, abrupt, but he got the job done.

Her jumbled thoughts had her wandering the ship and, before she knew it, she was ringing the Captain’s chime.
