Sharise sat back in her seat and gave the question careful consideration. “Hmmm, well, in some ways yes. But in other ways no. My easiest was probably just after I completed my PhD and was assigned to Starbase 81. It was a very straightforward two years. This ship has a smaller crew, which is inevitably easier for one therapist to manage, but the individual issues are more complex, and so are my own. I’m a much different person now,” she replied, curious to know how much the CMO knew about her more recent history, since it would inevitably come up.

“People, while perhaps never changing, to happen to learn to use their abilities in newfound ways.” She remarked with a certain smile upon her features, “Do you think you are a better person now, Counselor?” She inquisitively asked the opposing woman, wondering if these events had made her own impression of herself to become a better person, or if she believed she remained in the same state as before.

Dr. Shaidi

Ayla gave the weighty question the full consideration it deserved. “I don’t know that better is the right way to put it. I know more about myself, both the good and the bad. Much of my career has been spent in difficult assignments where either we were involved in a lot of combat, or I was dealing with those who were beyond the point of typical therapy. I like to think that because of everything I’ve been through, I am more aware of my inner strength and my ability to make difficult decisions under less than ideal circumstances. For me self awareness is a good marker of personal growth.”

“I see. I suppose you can never determine whether something is good or bad, if you are still growing.” Shaidi smiled, regarding the woman with a certain respect for her honesty. “I admire your confidence and your willingness to admit such qualities.” She admitted, discovering that hiding that would just be foolish. After all, the woman had been rising up through those tiers of reverence, just by listening to her. “May Wolverine never be too difficult, but never boring.” She grinned.

“Now let me turn the question back on you? How do you see yourself now compared to other times in the past?” Sharise asked.

Lt. Sharise, CNS

“Well, for one: I’m a woman, now.” She remarked, adding something more comedic. After all Shaidi really did not like talking about herself, so she hid it behind comedic responses, trying to find ways to compensate. “In all honesty, things have been an endless roller coaster, just as it has been for everyone. Who I am now, is not who I was then. Not emotionally, not physically and most certainly, not spiritually. I suppose you could say I’m not as ignorant as I once was, not so apt to believe everything I hear. A field such a medicine does make a person far less.. submissive, if you would.”

Dr. Shaidi

OOC: Shaidi’s response was not intended to be offensive! Being a transgender, myself, jokes like this are common. Just to clear that up!
