Petrov awoke blindfolded. He could feel that his hands and legs were tied. He could sense there was no one in the room he was in. Being an engineer, he could tell he was on a ship. And that the ship was currently at warp, likely traveling away from Risa.

“Finally awake, are ya?” said a female voice. The voice was unfamiliar to him.

Mikel’s fist impulse was to kick adn fight but as he quickly realized he was tied up. He could feel he was in a ship and most likely at warp.

“Kidnapping a Starfleet Officer is 20 years minimum. I suggest you take me right back to where you attacked me. I am very sure there is cctv and a whole host of surveillance footage that has recorded this deed. I am also sure it wont end well for you. So make it easy and I will forget this happened.” He said as cool as he could.

Petrov CE

“Your threats don’t work against me, Starfleet. I think you don’t quite understand the position you are in.”

A sound of a chain could be heard, but it was light… so perhaps a necklace? Petrov could feel the necklace being hung over him. “This necklace is from Bajor… it is said it was from a sect of monks who worshipped the Pah-wraiths in secret… but non-believers who tried to touch their items were said to go crazy, as if their minds were lit on fire.”

Petrov felt nothing at first. As the moments passed, he felt immense pain, as if his entire brain was on fire. For five minutes, the pain lasted, until he felt on the verge of passing out, and he felt the necklace removed.

Petrov felt pain and anger.

“Torture? That is what you do? If you want something I suggest you ask.” Petrov was scared but he was also Russian. Even the thinnest of skins of a Russian was twice as thick as the next man.

Petrov CE

Two sharp pains were felt near his forehead. As an engineer, the most logical guess was memory extraction devices or something similar along those lines.

“What is the USS Wolverine’s mission?” asked the disembodied voice.

“Being a reckless incompetent crew and wandering the galaxy at the hands of an insane man.” Petrov said through gritted teeth.

He knew if they were using mind extraction devices he should stick to the truth but not the truths they wanted to know.

Petrov CE

“Smart ass, I see. Let me rephrase the question. What is the current mission of the USS Wolverine as assigned by a high ranking officer from Starfleet Headquarters?” asked the voice.

Petrov tried to resist. The truth is he had paid not much attention to the mission. Which this time was a good thing.

“Looking for some artifacts. I don’t know much else. I don’t pay attention to the missions unless they benefit me personally.” He said gritting and straining.

Of course this was not all. He knew about trying to get the toy opened up and bisected and the result of that. He knew about its power draining capabilities. However that was not the question. He answered that and honestly.

Petrov CE

“What do you mean by artifacts?” asked the voice. There was a hint of impatience in the voice. “You are hiding something from me. Why?”

“I never liked my father but I love him. I have never met his expectations. I secretly plot the downfall of fellow crew and enjoy it. I wouldn’t befriend myself and know exactly why others don’t either. I hate pudding of any type. Artifacts are a usually simple object (such as a tool or ornament) showing workmanship or modification as distinguished from a natural object.” Petrov answered truthfully while revealing things he was hiding from many to include himself.

Petrov, being a pain in the backside even under mind seeking interrogation

“But if you are plotting the downfall of your crew, wouldn’t you want to reveal the nature of your ship’s mission which will likely be your Captain’s downfall and your Chief of Security’s downfall? I mean, after all, the fact you were captured by an enemy puts both your Chief of Security and Captain in a difficult position. And you can’t be faulted for revealing information when it is clearly you are under the alien influence of devices of unknown origin,” said the voice.
