Bernard loved the smell of engineering. He must have been standing in the doorway for too long because another ensign was staring at him. Walking into engineering he was looking around in awe. This was his first posting since he graduated from the academy.

“Excuse me Ensign, can you point me in the direction of the Chief?”

“The Chief is in Transporter Room 1, he’s dealing with a major problem, so I’ve heard,” said the NE.

GM

“Thanks, I guess I will stick around here till he shows up. Is there anything I can help with around here till he returns? I wouldn’t want to bother him with a routine check in if he’s dealing with something important.”

OOC: This was supposed to be alt time line before the sim.

OOC: Well with my magic wand I just waved it is now in an alt time line before the sim. In this time line the CE is in Main Engineering looking over an inductor coil that failed and was removed for inspection.
IC:

“You.” Petrov called out to the new engineer who had come in. He waved the man over.

The coil in front of him appeared fine. No obvious overheating marks or obvious fractures. However the reading showed a quantum fissure along the induction path. Unfortunately for most you really had to notice the quantum irregularity as a vibration on a level almost untraceable. In other words most engineers would not find the problem.

“”Figure this out.” The CE told the new Engineer but remained to see if he could.
