“But you don’t view it as a step forward either,” Ayla remarked, filling in the gaps. Whether it was correct or not, or whether she did it intentionally remained to be seen. But each person came to the Wolverine under different circumstances and a lot of that is what made the ship the unique gathering of people it was.

“No.” Shaidi eventually submitted, shaking her head. “I don’t. It is sort of the middle between being the same and getting better. As if it were just another assignment, akin to the one prior. I don’t mean that this ship is bad or anything.. it just doesn’t feel like anything different, but the ship most certainly is a different story.”

“I understand,” Ayla said with a nod and a soft smile. “And yes, this ship is certainly something else, and I’ve served on my fair share of interesting assignments. In some ways it’s harder, in others it’s more difficult.” She leaned forward slightly and grinned a bit conspiratorially. “But I’ve never been very afraid of a challenge and I suspect neither have you.”

A faint smirk came across green tinted lips, as if silently agreeing to her assumptions. “Challenge? Isn’t that what makes life worth living?” She questioned, her inquiry debatably rhetorical, while possessing indications of being both authentic and simply for a return to Sharise’s query. “Would you consider this one of the ‘easier’ assignements you have embarked upon, Counselor?”

Sharise sat back in her seat and gave the question careful consideration. “Hmmm, well, in some ways yes. But in other ways no. My easiest was probably just after I completed my PhD and was assigned to Starbase 81. It was a very straightforward two years. This ship has a smaller crew, which is inevitably easier for one therapist to manage, but the individual issues are more complex, and so are my own. I’m a much different person now,” she replied, curious to know how much the CMO knew about her more recent history, since it would inevitably come up.

“People, while perhaps never changing, to happen to learn to use their abilities in newfound ways.” She remarked with a certain smile upon her features, “Do you think you are a better person now, Counselor?” She inquisitively asked the opposing woman, wondering if these events had made her own impression of herself to become a better person, or if she believed she remained in the same state as before.
