The greatest portion of Coryn’s career had been spent as a NCO serving planet-side, so he still was not completely comfortable in the sanitary confines of a Starfleet vessel. The artificial lights felt too bright, and the recycled air felt dry and it lacked all of the character and “taste” that organic material added. It didn’t make things any better that his first shipboard posting was to be on the USS Wolverine which was a relatively small ship. He moved silently through the corridors of Deck 4 en route to the security station which would be his new home… sure he had a set of quarters where he had dropped off his belongings, but that little bunk room was not where he’d be spending most of his life.

Coryn had been on board less than an hour when he started making the customary rounds that everyone must make upon joining a new ship. His first stop was to the office of his boss the Chief of Security. He hadn’t taken the time yet to do his due diligence in researching those who he’d be working for or with. The Wolverine small staff meant that the crew was diminutive as well, so the task would be simple enough once he’d finished the rounds.

The man approached the Security station and pressed the chime outside the door.

Alita had been reading the morning reports and had just set aside Vinoda’s file when the chime rang.

“Open…” she called automatically.

When the door opened Vinoda was greeted by the smell of fresh coffee and assorted pastries. Nothing replicated.
