Mikel was sure to place himself to the back of the new XO. If there were fireworks he was happy to let him take the blast for him and go down the hero. For that matter they all could take a hit as long as he did not.

“You won’t be needing that, Dear lady.” Morning Bright spoke as he stepped in front of his companions. A type one phaser would certainly send him to sickbay, but even set to maximum his bulk gave him some resistance. “ We are here on business, and that business doesn’t involve harming you.” The Gnal stood to his tallest. This pose tho impressive, he found was generally less threatening. If it held her attention all the better.

Alita stayed where she was and sighed inwardly. They should have handled the situation differently but, at the moment, it was out of her hands.

“Telling someone that doesn’t make you less a threat,” replied the lady, “And you haven’t stated your business either so that makes you suspicious. Let me rephrase my earlier question: Who are you people and what do you what?”

“These clowns are unfortunately my associates and that big ugly one is, unfortunately the money man, and as such our business leader.” Mikel said taking the lead from the shadows as he saw they would not be vaporized just yet.

“Trust me my good woman I am just as surprised by that as you are and equally disappointed. However you get into business with all sorts these days.” He added. He was a good liar. Knowing just how much bull to put on top of the truth to mix well and not stink up the place. Time for a real deceiver to take charge with these clowns.

He was tired of their amateurish attempts at deception.

“Morning Bright” put on a ‘smile’ and bowed. “Dawn Bright” at your service, M’am.”

“My name is Lily. Nice to meet you,” she offered her name to the mix. People were always so quick to jump to violence, deception or suspicion. Sure they were a motley looking crew running around but sometimes when people were nice they were nice. Why this woman was so on guard had to be from something she did or had done. Lily might be a bit naive but it had saved her from being shanked in the Klingon district more than once.

“Well, I don’t see anything of value on you, so I suppose you’d be buying something?” asked the lady. Her shoulders seem to relax a little, but her hand had not moved. “We only accept items of equal value, or Gold Pressed Latinum here. The antiques market doesn’t do well with Federation Credits.”

Reilly smiled and said “Latinum is our preferred avenue of exchange as well. So I think we may have some business to do… if you are open to us perusing your wares?”

“Show me proof of your latinum and I will,” replied the lady, “And it’s bad manners, young man, not to introduce yourself, especially when it’s obvious those under your charge have better manners than you.”

Mikel stepped back out of the front. Once again he had saved their skins. These circus jokes didn’t have the sense to come out of an Andorian snow storm.
