Sural had been staring into a holo of the Olympic rotating in a slow circle over his desk. The Olympic was a vast ship. Much larger than any he had served on previously. As he peered at the holo he noticed one of the new engineers that had very recently transferred aboard. Standing, his fingertips light on the tabletop, the Vulcan surveyed her. The transmission did not yield much information on any of them. Truly what he saw was, really, only what he knew.

“Ensign Tetra. Please, come in. Undoubtedly you know of me. I am Lt Sural.” One of his hands came up and gestured to a chair inviting her to sit. He followed suit a moment later. A simple tap on the tabletop LCARS dismissed the holo of the ship. “I wish to welcome you aboard. Tell me a little about yourself. What world did you study on? Is this your first posting out of the Academy?”
