Sural was not precisely in Engineering yet. He had risen and had been meditating prior to the start of his shift. He had the ‘holopaper’ set to be able to open the dark teak like door to the small porch. While he couldn’t enter it obviously, he could sit in front of it and overlook the coppery dunes laced with faint colors of blue from the particles of minerals swept along by the winds.

=^= Crawford to Lt Sural. Sorry to disturb you sir, but Winston Hillchurch has reported an issue of a possible .. criminal act. He didn’t say it but implied a possible murder in one of the Jeffries Tubes =^= He gave the location of it. =^= Security is present. =^=

Sural’s brow rose. His first thought was ‘who’? =^= Do we know who the victim is? =^= Sural asked. =^= Initiate a log of all Jeffries Tube accesses over the course of the Gamma shift. I believe Ensign Hillchurch was conducting turbolift diagnostics. Pull his information as well to log lift accesses and commands. This may be helpful for Security to narrow who was about at that time. Filter the results as well to the three decks around the murder. I will be down presently and will review the results then. =^=

Crawford replied =^= I’m about to do a roll call for the Engineering crews to see if anyone is missing. =^=

Meanwhile in Engineering .. Lt Crawford closed off the comms and wiped his face. “Swell,” he said. “Nothing ever happens at the ‘beginning’ of a shift. “Gerry! Replicate me a rakdajino.. I’m not getting to bed anytime soon.” Nor will he be reading his Zane Grey novel before bed today. =^= Computer, prepare a report of all Jeffries Tube access for the past 8 hours, as well as turbolift command and entry. And, send out a comms check for a roll call of all Engineering persons on Gamma shift. And … Alpha shift excepting the chief. =^= He nodded as Gerry brought the sludge of coffee that was as thick as cough syrup. He took a sip and stared at the console. Best be safe on the roll call. It was getting near the Alpha shift. He always preferred Gamma. Usually it was quiet. They may run a lot of checks and get out and ‘fix’ things but hey, that was engineering and one could learn a lot of the ship on this shift.

The computer chirped and began to compile a report on the nearest screen. Personnel who came and went as well as turbolift logs printed nearly into rows and timestamps. The list of each was rather long during that far of a time frame.
