Sural made his way from the transporter room to Engineering. Options were limited, however safety was a concern. As he entered the vast complex that was engineering, the Vulcan sought out the control center. “Report,” he said as he drew near to the people surrounding the long table.

“Reno has isolated the bridge from the HVAC air and locked off turbolift access. We have applied force fields as well to Tube regions and connecting floors to bolster the structural integrity and further seal off the regions. We have a transporter lock on all bridge personnel and it is set to automatically transport upon any detection of an explosion.”

Sural considered this. “Are we able to apply any force fields between the Romulan and the crew at the same time as the detonation to try to reduce the concussion and spread of the toxin? As well, do we know the nature of the toxin and in a transport could that be isolated by the biofilters?” He said, “In the meantime, increase by 2% per minute the ventilation of the bridge over where the Romulan is. If it is not that explosive we may curtail the spread of it that way.”
- Sural

“Sir… without knowing what the toxin is, it’s hard to contain any tighter than the bridge. Different gas, different force field strength. We can get some extra ventilation, but… where should it go? If the worst should happen?”

-Matrix

“Good questions,” Sural replied. “However, there must be an engineering solution as much as there must be a security solution. You have highlighted a weakness in my logic. We must widen our net of collaboration so as to not bump heads as the humans call it. Perhaps a reverse effect on ventilation is in order. Rather than sucking the air out, let us work at increasing the pressure towards the assailant and away from our people. I will contact the security office.”

=^= Sural to Security Office =^= he began. He didn’t want to make contact with the bridge security as they had their own issues there. =^= We are aware of the common situation upon the bridge and would like to collaborate with you on mitigating the issue. =^=
Sural

=/\=Lt, we have a small phosgene gas detonator on…=/\= the comms went silent. =/\=Sir. We have the device contained here. Lt Oberon beamed it down.=/\=

-Matrix

=^= Acknowledged. Thank you. I would suggest that the device be held in a transporter pattern buffer in ‘mid-transport’ to err on the side of caution. If it is desired to be studied we can reconstitute it. Otherwise it can be beamed into space. =^= Sural would prefer it to be off the ship. He was relieved to hear that Reno was safe.
- Sural

=/\Understood sir. Device is in a holding pattern, inside a level 1 force field.=/\=

-Matrix

Sural nodded his acknowledging this, but then the ship shuddered. They were under attack. “Stabilize power systems,” he said. “Re-routing fusion power to structural integrity fields.” His fingers moved on the confident but sure fashion. There was available power in the impulse fusion generators and he would let the bridge draw from the warp engines for principle power needs. “Detail damage control teams to shield generators and weapons control rooms.”
- Sural

Engineers rushed off to their various assignments. Weapons were at full power, and Sural’s efforts were keeping them that way. Shields stood at 77%. A proximity alert came in. The Romulan vessel was rushing them on a collision course.

-Matrix

Sural’s brow rose. That was an unexpected move. The Romulan vessel was small - smaller than its namesake. Sural knew that the tractor beam was rated for over 7 million metric tons. With momentum the calculations to stop the ship was impossible in the time they had. But … he quickly reversed polarity on the tractor beam to repel. With the force they could muster giving the Romulan vessel a ‘shove’ to the side may work and throw them off.

He sent this message to the bridge through the engineering station … it was crude however with the time remaining in the seconds they could only do what they could do.
- Sural

Silence. And then the ship trembled beneath Sural’s feet as the ship took some sort of impact. The lights flickered and sparks flew. The fact that they were still alive would have to be Sural’s evidence that the collision had been averted. The Olympic had been damaged, a hull breach was forming on deck 3, the pylon leading to the starboard nacelle was compromised, shields were down to 34%.

-Matrix

Sural’s Vulcan strength enabled him to hang on to the tabletop. The designers had built in a kind of railing, logically, for just such emergencies. He noted red and yellow zones appearing. Deck 3 was compromised and the nacelle was damaged. However, it only meant that the CO and XO would require alternate quarters for the time being and that the systems for the holo-crew would require to be tested. He wasn’t concerned for the Bay Storage area, though he ensured that force fields were up there. =^= Sural to engineering damage control. Dispact crews to a hull breach on Deck 3 forward sections. I need an assessment on the starboard nacelle pylon as soon as possible. =^=

=/\=Teams are on their way.=/\=

He noted the shields were low, though he also noted that another Starfleet vessel had appeared. =^= Forward shield generator crews. Report status on systems. =^=
Sural, CE

=/\=Sir, the shield generator is fully operational. We haven’t been able to compensate for the bombardment. Especially not something the size of a ship. We’re working on it.=/\=

=^= Reinforcements are here. Do what you need. =^=

=/\=Repair crew one to Engineering. Hull breach is relatively small. We’re patching it now. Won’t be pretty, but it’ll get us to starbase where they can do full repairs.=/\=

=^= Efficiency over aesthetics. The Starbase can put the paint on. Carry on. =^=

=/\=Repair team two to engineering, there’s a crack running the width of the nacelle. Good news; it’s only four metres deep. We could probably make it to starbase, but we’ll reinforce it to make sure.=/\=

-Matrix

=^= We have an escort now. Undertake stress testing as you make repairs. Speed is not a necessity =^=
