Sural made his way from the transporter room to Engineering. Options were limited, however safety was a concern. As he entered the vast complex that was engineering, the Vulcan sought out the control center. “Report,” he said as he drew near to the people surrounding the long table.

“Reno has isolated the bridge from the HVAC air and locked off turbolift access. We have applied force fields as well to Tube regions and connecting floors to bolster the structural integrity and further seal off the regions. We have a transporter lock on all bridge personnel and it is set to automatically transport upon any detection of an explosion.”

Sural considered this. “Are we able to apply any force fields between the Romulan and the crew at the same time as the detonation to try to reduce the concussion and spread of the toxin? As well, do we know the nature of the toxin and in a transport could that be isolated by the biofilters?” He said, “In the meantime, increase by 2% per minute the ventilation of the bridge over where the Romulan is. If it is not that explosive we may curtail the spread of it that way.”

“Sir… without knowing what the toxin is, it’s hard to contain any tighter than the bridge. Different gas, different force field strength. We can get some extra ventilation, but… where should it go? If the worst should happen?”

“Good questions,” Sural replied. “However, there must be an engineering solution as much as there must be a security solution. You have highlighted a weakness in my logic. We must widen our net of collaboration so as to not bump heads as the humans call it. Perhaps a reverse effect on ventilation is in order. Rather than sucking the air out, let us work at increasing the pressure towards the assailant and away from our people. I will contact the security office.”

=^= Acknowledged. Thank you. I would suggest that the device be held in a transporter pattern buffer in ‘mid-transport’ to err on the side of caution. If it is desired to be studied we can reconstitute it. Otherwise it can be beamed into space. =^= Sural would prefer it to be off the ship. He was relieved to hear that Reno was safe.
