Collin had spent the weeks the Olympic had been uneventfully patrolling the border of the Neutral Zone enjoying the mundane routine of the Olympic. Their brush with the mirror universe had left him shaken and he was still orienting himself to the loss of Captain Thorne. He had worried her dead, but knew now that wasn’t the case (OOC: I won’t be any more specific than that as she’d D’s character). The ship was different without her. A little lonelier, but he would make do. It was the nature of service in Starfleet, the permanence of impermanence.

His terminal blinked with an incoming message. It was from an NE on the Bridge, relaying a message to prepare Sickbay for possible patients. So something had happened? Collin was curious, but knew his primary responsibility was here. Only as he scanned the short message did he raise an eyebrow, truly curious. Romulans? Collin’s Sickbay was always prepared and he’d pondered the possibility of Romulan patients given their location, but he hadn’t counted on it. It seemed their quiet time was over.

The message contained the bridge scan results as it pertained to crew. 40 Romulans onboard, spread as far across every demographic chart a person could find. A little of everything.

His main sickbay was largely empty at the moment and contained 50 biobeds. He could handle the influx here, but he motioned to a lieutenant, instructing her to ready one of the auxillary Sickbays in case they needed an overload of patients.

It took the press of only a few buttons to call in the medical officers who were on call. They would need all hands on deck if they were to clear all 40 Romulans and treat an unknown number for any injuries or ailments. Quarantine protocols would have to be in place initially, but the transporter buffers would help with the most common concerns.

He turned to his staff, “We have a possible 40 patients arriving, all presumed Romulan. We will triage first. Those cleared medically will be dealt with by security. No one should leave Sickbay without clearance from Command or Lt. Oberon. I presume security officers will be here shortly. Determining any threat is their responsibility. Healing patients is ours. Let’s make sure we have enough plasma replicated and we are ready. Go.”

Sickbay was then alerted that the Romulans had arrived in Cargo Bay 1.

Collin grimaced. His Sickbay was plenty large to hold all the incoming Romulans, would provide more efficient medical attention, had was equipped with security features and protocols. Yet they were off to the Cargo Bay.

“Looks like we have some field work. We will triage in the Cargo Bay. Any patients needing more than a what a med kit offers will be brought here.”

No doubt with security in tow.

Some time had passed and now a gurney entered sickbay, being guided by a security NE. A pregnant Romulan woman was on it. With her was a similar looking woman, a sister. “Rhaelara, I won’t let them hurt you.”
“I trust the doctors.” she was transferred to a biobed. “Security was doing its job. They took me here special so the baby will live. They let you come. It’s ok”

And just behind the two sisters was Dr. Harding. The staffing in Sickbay was minimal as most had moved to the Cargo Bay to triage and treat the Romulans, but Collin was able to flag over a nurse to assist. He looked to the Security NE.

“Thank you. Make yourself comfortable,” he gestured toward a spot a ways away from the biobeds they were to readying for Rhaelara and Aelana. He turned to the sisters. “I want to take another reading of the baby’s vitals and conduct a scan that will allow me to see their current position. Go ahead and lie down on the biobed.”
