“This ship itself could be a bomb.” Jasar asked, taking his command chair. “Can we beam them aboard?” He asked curious, looking at the sensor display near his chair.
-CO
The ship was unshielded, it was therefore possible to beam everyone onboard. The only indication of weapons of any kind were two forward facing disruptor arrays, and one collapsed torpedo tube. Powering the disruptors at this point seemed unlikely given the ship’s remaining power levels.

Sural stood and faced the captain, his hands clasped behind him. “Sir, motive would be required were we considering this to be an explosive device. Their singularity core is dead and their power levels insufficient to begin mustering either an offense or defense. We were not expected to be here and the Zeus could not take this vessel in. Moreover, the cargo vessel would normally have as its crew up to five. There are over 40 on board. Logically if they were performing a suicide mission they would do it with minimal persons rather than what we see. Tactically were we to take the vessel on we only have ourselves to protect in the event of any other Romulan incursion. We are able to both take the vessel aboard and contain it, beaming the crew to another location such as sickbay. Then, security and engineering can secure the vessel.”
- Sural, CE“It’s not the motive of the crew that I am concerned about. If they are running from the Tal’ Shiar they may have an agent on board.” Jasar stated to Sural. He stood up and moved towards the view screen. “Hail the Romulans.”
Once they reestablished communication.
=^=Captain Revel, This is Captain Jasar of the Federation Star ship Olympic. I would like to beam your crew aboard my ship, we can better protect you that way. Any members of your crew that need medical attention will be attended to. Once your crew has been seen to, we can discuss your asylum request.=^=
-CO
=/\=Captain Jasar, that is perfectly agreeable. My ship is unshielded, I will tell the people to expect beam out at any time.=/\= he was about to close out the channel when he said =/\=Captain, we cannot thank you enough.=/\= The viewscreen went dark, then returned to a view of the I.R.W. Talok. Soon to just be drifting scrap metal, relieved of its burden.

D’vash leaned closer to Jasar. “Captain, it took a few moments, but I remember hearing of this Suket, Capt. Revel mentioned. She had made a number of enemies among the Romulan Senate, for her unethical ways, even by Romulan standards. After the Hobus Incident occurred and the Tal’Shiar took over the government, Suket became somewhat of the favored child by the new government.”
“If these people are running from her, for whatever reason, she will stop at nothing to get them back. Even at the risk of starting a war.”
Odinson (XO)
Sural’s brow rose. That sounded rather melodramatic and emotionally based for a response. While he was not averse to considering a ‘plant’ in the Romulan ranks, he considered that a fleeing group of rag tag refugees were hardly something to start a war that the Romulans, in their current condition, had no way of winning. That was not logical. However, any such dedicated pursuit needed a reason. “Then, if I might add, Commander, we must discover their motive for such a pursuit.” Doing so would solve a number of questions and give them indication as to what their importance was.
- Sural, CE“I’m just suggesting we don’t underestimate Suket, Sural. She is ruthless, to say the least.”
“Of course, sir,” Sural replied. “That is most logical.” His even voice didn’t betray his thoughts. Ruthless was not a motive. One required cause to cross the neutral zone into Federation space in a warship. That was no small thing. Whether there were ‘moles’ in the mix only added to why then they were being pursued and why they had not been caught on their side of the fence, so to speak. A freighter was hardly a swift vessel. Their escape story was one that needed to be explored.
Pretha didn’t hear everything D’Vash said, she got the feeling there was more to their coming guests than she was aware. Standing up, she waited till a pause in their whispering and nodded to the others. “I’m going to set up the cargo bay as an ingress point. We’ll keep security minimal in the bay, but on standby and in the halls as well. I’ll also lock down the systems in the bay so they can’t access the computers till we are sure what’s going on.” She nodded to the CO and XO. “Permission to leave the bridge and set up security in the bay and medical?”
She hoped she would become privy to whatever it was they seemed to know, but she wasn’t about to ask now.
Pretha
CoS“I’ll join you, Lt., in welcoming our guests,” D’vash offered.
“Captain, shall I bring Capt. Revel to the conference room as soon as he and his people get situated?”
Odinson (XO)
“No Commander,” He said, pausing for a moment to think. “I want you to take a small away team and secure the freighter. Once it is secured we can bring it aboard.” His eastern european accent coming through slightly as he spoke. “Lt. Pretha, you and the good Doctor will see to our guests.”
The XO stopped and nodded in acknowledgement. “Aye, sir.”
He walked over the the commander to escort him to the turbolift. “Something about this smells wrong, do you disagree?” He asked his XO quietly as they walked.
-CO
“The fact that a freighter was able to escape from what is most likely a warbird, and sustain as much damage as she did, with no apparent pursuit in the area, does raise a few hackles.”
Sural tapped at the controls, downloading all pertinent sensor data of the Romulan vessel to his PaDD. He anticipated being on the Away Team so undertook this proactive stance. So too, it was helpful for the ship’s sensors could much better map the unshielded cargo vessel and, should he have the map ready, he could much easily navigate the ship rather than being limited to what could be gleaned from the scans on a PaDD. Shutting down his station, he turned, expectantly awaiting the order. If it came that he was not part of it, and that say, NE Reno was a part of the team, he would pass the Texan his information.
- Sural, CEOOC: Pasting in GM’s comment.
A complete map of the small ship was downloaded to Sural’s PaDD. A warning came up that power failure was imminent and EVA suits or backup power supply would likely be necessary.
-Matrix
“Lt. Oberon, have a security detail meet me Transporter Room 4. Standard issue equipment. Sural, you’re with me.”
Odinson (XO)
Pretha nodded and scooted out, hey voice already on the comm to contact others.
Pretha
CoSSural nodded and glanced at the bleep from his PaDD. “Of course, commander,” he said to the XO,”Power is about to fail aboard the ship. We will require EVA suits and, potentiallya generator. However we can avoid that by deploying the tractor beam to bring her into the bay.” Then, to the Captain he said, “Captain, life support and power is imminent aboard the freighter. I suggest accelerating beaming the crew to the Bay.” With that he prepared to depart with the XO.
- Sural
OOC: Thinking it had been planned, and we have another thread on this, but that it hadn’t been given the command from here … but correct me if I’m wrong“EVA suits it is, Lt.”, D’vash replied to Sural. “Let’s make sure there are no surprises before bringing it in. Get a portable generator sent over, as well.”
Odinson (XO)
“Yes, Commander,” Sural replied. As he moved to the lift, he tapped his comms badge.
=^= Sural to Reno. Ensign, please prepare the Model Zeta LE Fusion Generator for transport to the Romulan freighter’s engine room. As well, ensure that there is a complement of EVA suits ready in the main transporter room. Access the computer records for who is in the away team. When you are ready, transport the generator over. Let me know when it is done. =^=
The reply came back after a few moments in his customary Texan accent. =^= Reno here Chief. Zeta LE and EVA suits. Will have them all over faster than a coyote onto a gopher. =^=
Sural’s brow rose. =^= A colorful time estimate Ensign. Thank you. =^= With that the doors to the lift closed. “Main transporter room,” he said.
Sural, CE
Jasar watched the XO give the orders, nodding with approval. He then returned to the command chair.
“Ops, to a full scan of the surrounding systems, and take us to Yellow alert.”
-CO
The room suddenly had flashing yellow lights. Scan results revealed two warp trails consistant with Romulan vessels. One led to the crippled I.R.W. Talok in the same system the Olympic occupied. The other ended one system over. There were slight remains of a photonic disturbance mere kilometres from where the other vessel had dropped out of warp. The disturbance was consistent with a vessel cloaking, but to lose the signature so quickly, the device used must have been highly advanced.
-Matrix
Deeg had a moment of panic at the alert. It wasn’t that he knew anything, but his mind liked to play tricks on him. Doubling down on focusing he looked at the details of the scans. “We have t-two warp trails. One is the Talok here. The other is in the adjoining system but it disappears.” He focused in more on that comparing it to known technology in the systems. “They’ve upgraded, Captain. Very quick transition in engaging cloak. Attempting to compare signatures of the trail to see whether we can approximate the type of ship involved.” He knew that was a longshot to get anything really precise, but narrowing it to a possible class would give them an idea. Granted they were a Mythology and a monster ship. That would hopefully give a Romulan ship pause on what they might do.
- Deeg, EngDeeg would not be able to determine the class of ship. He could decipher that it was likely on the smaller side. By what he could determine, it would seem to have a philosophy of quality over quantity. The only indications this ship was ever there pointed to it being a small, highly advanced craft.
-Matrix
“Understood, keep a full scan and be ready to raise shields.” Jasar replied as he transferred the data to his chair and began reading.
-CO
He went back to his scans. It was tricky but then he was tricky Or at least his past was. Another life. A lifetime ago. This was more down his alley; more than an aging engineering ensign anyway. Fine tuning as much as he could he conclude that they were good. And they were advanced. Frowning to himself he wondered why it was that those like the Romulans were so clever and the Federation seemingly a step or more behind. Yes the Mythology was an amazing piece of engineering. But the Romulan ship that he could see had ‘style’. They made tech look good. “It looks like a smaller craft, Captain. All the bells and whistles we’d expect to see from the Romulans.” But where? Where had they built this? Romulus was gone and with it central command. This would take a significant R&D and a good shipyard to boot.
