When the away team was altogether in the transporter room, the tech reported that the portable generator had already been sent to the freighter.

“Very good, Ens. Delambre. Send us to the engine room as well,” D’vash reported.

The XO stepped onto the transporter pad with the others. “Let’s keep our eyes and ears open, gentlemen. Energize, Ensign.”

What met the away team’s eyes upon was flickering lights and a cluster of consoles. The consoles, still powered for the moment, had readout of the ship’s current status. Run through the universal translator, it read: [Singularity core failure. Remaining power- 15%. 1 hour until total power failure.]

One Romulan occupied the room, seated in a chair facing away from the Starfleet officers. He had not so much as glanced at them since their arrival, he hadn’t moved at all, he remained face-forward at his station.

Sural initiated a translator display on his EVA suit that would overlay and translate Romulan to Federation Standard. While Romulan was a variant of Vulcan, Sural had never learned it or considered learning it. As he read the status he computed their odds. Core failure would cause a very tidy implosion which would not do well inside a Bay.

Moving toward the generator that was upon a anti grav sled. The sled was deactivated and both units lay ready on the deck. “Engineer,” Sural called over, striding toward him. “We have come to aid you to stabilize your vessel.” He looked around. Even with translation he could ‘guess’ at two or three areas that might be viable to hook up the generator, though asking would be simply the most logical. “Please assist me in boosting your power with the generator we have brought.”

If he saw no response from the Romulan Sural would reach out his hand to the man’s shoulder. While he was averse to touch, being a traditional Vulcan in that manner, the EVA suit added that layer of mental protection, so to speak.
