The counselor nodded, intrigued. “How did you come to be in the Alpha quadrant if your homeworld is in the Delta Quadrant?” he asked, then quickly added. “Just a reminder, if there is ever a question that I ask and you are not fully comfortable answering it, you are fully within your rights to refuse to answer. My job today is to evaluate your psychological condition, not to pry into your secrets,” he spoke. “And recall, anything you say in here stays in this room, between me and you, unless it threatens the health or safety of the Ship or her crew,” he explained.

Star looked away and swallowed, his tail curling close to his side, his ears backing slightly. “If you are wondering if being alone has taken a toll…” He breathed and sighed heavily and then shrugged “It’s a burden I’ve adjusted to. I have a long path ahead of me, but…I hold out hope that one day my people will make contact within my lifetime. It’s not exactly comforting, but it is a stone easily carried.”

He looked over at the counselor, his green eyes had leagues of sadness, but he wasn’t unstable because of it nor at risk of doing anything stupid. “The space around our system is a hot spot for micro wormholes. Every fifteen years one opens up, well we didn’t get the notice that one was waking and…on my first solo flight after learning to fly, I got swallowed. The small ship wasn’t designed to deal with such pulling force and none of the emergency systems were of any use, but I managed to survive and ended up making my home within the Federation. I’m not the first to go missing, but I have found no evidence that any of my kind made it to these parts. I am an ensign however, so if there are others like me within Starfleet I wouldn’t likely be told… As for secrets, I have none. My people are not given to lies, nor secrets, they are too easily sniffed out and a lot more trouble than they are worth.”

Sathut listened with a quiet patience, taking in all the details. “If you would like, I could inquire into the matter on your behalf?” he suggested with a small smile. “My clearance goes further than your own. In the aid of the mental health of one of my crew, I am certain I could pull some strings and find out if you truly are the only of your species and planet in Starfleet,” he said.

“You mentioned that you were on the track to becoming a counselor… may I ask why you had chosen that path to begin with?” he asked, his tail flicking back and forth slightly.

Star shrugged “If you wish to do so, I won’t stop you.” He wasn’t going to hold out hope on it, but if there was a chance he wasn’t alone it would be a relief.

Star thought about the question “I think at the time I was interested in learning more about those around me, mainly how their minds worked. At the time I was still new to everything and the people around me were like puzzles. That isn’t to say they are not now, I just…didn’t want to be privy to all those secrets. I suppose I realized my own burdens and chose a different path, I don’t regret doing it.”

Sathut nodded, a small smile on his face. “Ah, I can certainly agree with you that the puzzle of how a mind works is a satisfying one when you feel as though you have begun to piece it together. Although, as soon as it feels like I’ve figured it out, I always seem to find that the puzzle was twice as big as I had thought it was,” he said with a chuckle. “Now… what is your favorite colour? What is your favorite food? What do you enjoy doing in your spare time? And for each of those, why is it?” questions that seemed like small talk, but each would give Sathut a small glimpse of Stargazer’s personality.

“My favorite color is blue, a rich deep cobalt, it is a comforting color and reminds me of the lake near my home. My favorite food is potato pancakes smothered in squashed apple and sour cream, it was the first human food I had ever tasted. In my spare time I do all sorts of things, so it would depend on how I was feeling at the time.” Star had a lot of interests that he tended to explore “What about you?”

OOC: LAtkes!

IC: Sathut was slightly amused that the questions were turned back at him, but he was happy to oblige to make the male comfortable. “My favorite colour is a deep emerald green, because it is the first colour I remember seeing around me in the forests of my youth. My favorite food, well, you are enjoying it now,” he gestured to the tea-like drink Star had been given. “And in my spare time I prefer to read books. There’s something about reading a book that cannot be compared to a holonovel or something of the sort. Perhaps it is the smell… or the sensation of the paper in my paws.” he smiled.

“What is your dream? Your aspiration?” he asked.

Star thought that over “Home. I dream of seeing my people again, my family. Oddly, humans inspire me, they don’t follow a liner path and while it takes them longer to make leaps when they succeed, those leaps are quite astounding. I find myself wondering often what would happen if my people met theirs, what would be created.”
