Haanan Beid : : : : : Posted by Lieut (j.g.) Sathut (Counselor) in CNS Office, TAG Lieut (j.g.) Haanan Beid : : : : : Sathut was getting through his list, slowly but surely. Who was next? Ah, the Chief of Science. He grabbed his comm. =Lieut (j.g.) Haanan Beid, would you meet me in my office? At your earliest convenience, of course. I look forward to meeting you. Sathut out.=^= : : : : : : : : : : He glanced at the man’s data, and was pleased to see that he was a joined trill. So much could be learned from such an individual. : : : : : : : : : : - Sathut : : : : : : : : =^= Of course. We are on our way. Looking forward to meeting with you as well. =^= A few minutes later, Beid pressed the chime outside the Counselor’s door. : : : : : : : : Beid, CSO : : : : : : The door opened with a shhk, revealing the counselor’s office behind. The decor of the office was strange, to say the least. Other than the nice, human-sized couch, everything looked like it had been manufactured for a child. The desk was half the height of a normal one, and even the computer looked small. There was a chair opposite to the couch that, strangely, was proportioned for a child but was tall, almost like a high chair. The counselor himself, well… : : : : : : The man was a feline alien, no more than three feet in height when standing. He wore a sleeveless flowing Turquoise robe, with gold, silver, and reddish embroidery covering it in intricate detail. Honestly he’d rather wear nothing in regards to cloth, but that didn’t seem to be approved of around here. On his ears were a selection of bright golden rings, some with small gems embedded in them. His wrists bore woven rope bracelets, the right arm wrapped from wrist to elbow in braided twine. His right leg, although not visible from where he was seated, bore an intricate silver brace, the metal woven in its own patterns. : : : : : : The small alien stood and walked to the open door to greet his guest. “Greetings,” he said, his head dipping respectfully. His right palm rested on his chest, then extended out in a graceful motion towards the Trill. “May your hearts beat strongly, and your love grow wide,” he spoke as he performed the action, then pulled his hand back, folding his hands in front of himself. : : : : : : When he did this, it would be shown to Beid that on his hand he had three fingers and a thumb, as opposed to the regular four and a thumb. “Thank you for coming. Please, take a seat,” he spoke, gesturing to the comfortable looking couch, then moving over to his chair and gracefully leaping into it. He sat like a house cat, his hands folded beneath his chest. : : : : : : - Sathut : : : : Beid appeared frozen for a half-moment, and the a huge smile erupted across his features. “You are Raka, are you not? Oh my, my, my… it has been far too long. Far, far too long… We apologize. We know there is a proper response for your greeting, but we are not able to recall it. So if I may…” and he extended his hand, palm up, and said “May you know peace and joy through out your days.” and he took a seat, the smile never fading from his face. : : : : Beid, CSO : : Sathut was, quite honestly, shocked. Very few Starfleet officers knew of his species at all, let alone enough to call it by name. He sat on his chair for a few moments before speaking. “You know of the Raka, then?” he inquired. “I presume a previous host encountered my kind in the past?” When Beid next spoke, there was an odd quality to his voice. While the tone and volume did not change, there was an odd echoing effect; as if two voices were speaking simultaneously. “We have never met the Raka personally, but in the past we studied the five races of your world. A singularly fantastic achievement of cross-species harmony and cooperation. We are pleased to see your people outside the confines of your world.” he said with the same smile of sheer joy on his face. : : Once his questions were answered, he continued. “And in regards to the proper response… As I recall, it depends on who you are speaking to,” he chuckled, voice deep as she stood up. “For my race, the proper response is as follows; To you as well, and may your clan’s name never fail,” he spoke, repeating the same physical motion as the greeting phrase. : : - Sathut : OOC: Send me a note via Discord before you reply so we can figure out the circumstances of his previous interactions with the Raka - I’m VGer over there. Beid nodded and made sure to retain the proper greeting and response. He then said “We will remember. We are so happy to meet you, Counselor. Or is it Doctor?” he asked. Beid, CSO OOC: Sent the note.“Sathut is sufficient. In fact, I prefer my name to any title, please,” the alien spoke with a slight laugh. “Now, enough about my world. Let us talk about you for a moment. You are, my information tells me, a joined Trill?” he commented with a decent level of curiosity present in his voice. “I have studied the psychology of such a thing, but it is a very different thing to meet one of your kind in person,” he added.
Sathut
Beid smiled and said “And we are somewhat of a scientific anomaly in that aspect as well. Our joining was… much more… than the standard Symbiote - Host joining that we have had before.” There was an odd effect in his voice that wasn’t present before. Almost like a slight reverberation, or echo, in his speech. “We are truly symbiotic. It is usual in the Joining for the Symbiot to share it’s memories and emotions with the host; and incorporate some of it’s own personality into the Host’s as well. But when we Joined, we both remained almost wholly intact but completely together, if that makes any sense.” and he laughed. “We have dialogue with each other on a intimacy level neither of us has ever known. It is as if we were two separate parts of a single unit brought back together after a long separation. It has been… truly wondrous to experience.”
Beid, CSO
Sathut was quiet as he listened to the words of the Trill. “It is certainly not an experience I can relate to. Even in all my studies, I have no real precedent for understanding what you have experienced. I apologize if I am not as skillful in counseling you as I would be with counseling a single mind,” he sighed, although a smile was present on his face. “I hope you will still come to me in any time of confusion. That is, after all, my job here,” he said with a grin. “Now…” he sat back for a moment. “Before we properly begin, would you like something to drink?”
