Conrad lightly laughed. “She’s not the jealous type. Though I could see her making it a strategic move. I’m sure she wasn’t planning on you just entering my quarters as you pleased.” He shrugged. “Aft of the ship, bottom deck. Doesn’t seem to keep you in one place for long.” he said with a smirk.

He then strolled over the replicator and ordered a coffee. “Like something to drink before I send you out on a test run, so to speak?”

Katherine laughed. “I guess I don’t sit in the back well with others. Not a very good move.” She laughed. “A drink would be nice. What do you recommend?” She watched him and raised her eyebrows. “A test run? How so?” She was pretty sure he wanted to set her at the controls of the ship. But she wasn’t going to assume anything.

“I tend to have coffee before getting heavily involved in the activities of the ship,” replied Conrad. “You’re welcome to anything you like, Rine.” He grinned as it rolled off the tongue.

“As for a test run, I’d honestly like to see how well you interact with the crew.” He handed her his PaDD. “There are roughly 100 guests coming aboard for a tour in a nearby system. Should be easy enough, but I need someone to greet them as they come aboard. Katrina will be busy, and I have a lot to take care of. What do you think?” He was curious as to her response. If she agreed, he had good thoughts of her learning how to pilot the Black Sparrow at some point.

“Coffee sounds great,” she said, shifting to stand up from her lean on the desk. She heard the shooting if her name, but it had seemed so natural it didn’t register as anything other than normal. Which meant, on a deep level, her mind liked it. “I think I can manage that. Just lemme know where I’m to direct them. Will be good practice for meeting my Wing when we get back.”

While she spoke, he had a coffee replicated for her as well. He then strode over to his table, pulled another Padd, and handed it to her. “This is room arrangement for all guests. All names will have a room number associated with them.”

She smiled and watched him move. He would be formidable in a fight. She knew that much. Not someone she’d have to worry about. And someone she’d definitely trust against her back if things went sideways. “So tell me a bit about these guests and where we’re taking them. Anything I need to know so I can field questions till you’re arrival? Or will you be busy piloting till the destination? Just need to know how long I’m to keep them corralled and entertained.” She watched him get the coffees. “And is this attire acceptable? I didn’t bring my dress uniform, but I do have a slightly dressier outfit if it calls for it.”

Conrad took a long, slow moment to eye her up and down. Yes, he enjoyed it, and he wasn’t in to hiding such thoughts either. “I’d say the attire works,” he said with a grin. “Once guests are aboard, I’ll have a meet and greet in the Sparrow’s Lounge. Our tour is around the Oed system and then a brief tour in the Goron system. It should be a fairly uneventful journey. People can mill about as they see fit. We have some newly renovated entertainment areas, so those will be available to guests. As long as they stay off of the bridge, I think we will be fine. All you need to do is see to it that they know where these facilities are on the ship, and a simple direction towards their designated room will suffice. Katrina ought to be able to keep unnecessary guests off of the bridge.”

He took a sip of coffee. “Any questions?” he asked with a curious grin.

Katherine’s eyebrows rose slightly as he made no bones about looking her over completely. “I’m glad you like what you see. And no,” she took the Padd, smiling, “I think I can handle that. Will you be available at all or doing the flying while I do the dog and pony show amongst the stars?” She took a sip of the coffee and nodded in acceptance.

She likely didn’t even know half of what he had seen of her so far, what with him finding her fiddling around with the Sparrow’s exhaust ports. The view was pleasant, but he left that for the back of his mind. She was still technically starfleet, much to his surprise.

“Yes, I will be available. Can’t have too many wandering people, so I certainly plan to keep an eye on things. Kanok can watch things on the bridge when I’m not there.” He smirked, adding, “But something tells me you’d rather be the one at the conn, am I right?”

She laughed. “Perhaps. But I am new on the crew. I’m willing to earn my keep playing babysitter during a dog and pony show. Perhaps on the way back, when everyone’s sated with booze and info and ready to collapse. Less distractions and much easier to concentrate on what you tell me. Right?” She did her own overly obvious look up and down of him and smiled. “Something tells me you are just as curious about seeing what I’m capable of as well.” They were dancing even though they were standing still. She loved the banter and got the feeling he enjoyed it as well.
