(This is the dinner mentioned in “My Kingdom for a Shuttle!”)
SNIP
K’Letn stopped short and started laughing. She turned and looked at Brianna and said “Klingon delicacy. You’ll love it… trust me.”, but her tone held mirth very contained.
K’Letn
Brianna couldn’t help it. She laughed. Her hand absently patted the woman’s arm. “I don’t think I could have been warned better if you had scream ‘don’t touch it’ at the top of your lungs.” She shook her head. “Ok, let’s go get the human’s reaction to gagh over and done with. Shall we?” She nodded the way they were going and followed till the woman arrived at their destination.
Brianna
Fire-BornThe destination was a large open room. Long tables sat, benches flanking them. There was no formal head of the room, no table set apart, no raised dias. Just tables, covered with food and drink. Various figures sat around talking and laughing, talking and arguing, or simply drinking… bit no one was eating.
As the two women entered, a voice bellowed out “THERE you are! I was starting to think you decided to eat out!”and Urg laughed. “Come! Come! Eat and drink!” and he then yelled out “OUR GUEST HAS ARRIVED!! EAT!” and the assemblage banged their cups and tankard on the tables three times and then began eating. Urg waved the women over and gestured to seats opposite him on the bench. Looking at Brianna, he said “Well? What do you think of our ship?”
Urg’tohn, Lord Duroc
She was impressed by the impersonal nature of the eating room. It was so different on ships she had been on. As the tankards banged, she laughed, shaking her head and moved to sit where he motioned. “The ship is spectacular. K’Letn was a wonderful guide. She took me to the dome. It makes everything look more impressive. I had a great time.” She added and nodded in thanks to the Klingon woman beside her as she smiled.

Fire-BrandUrg looked at K’Letn and said “Good. I was hoping the two of you would find someplace quiet to talk.” and then a covered dish was set in front of them. Urg and K’Letn’s eye widened and Urg look at Brianna. “Dinner! The finest gagh anywhere!” And he lifted the cover.
A large bowl of blood red worm-like things writhed and wiggled in the bowl. Urg reached in and grabbed a handful and said “Enjoy, Fire-Born!” as a tankard of bloodwine was set next to her. K’Letn looked at Brianna and grinned, taking a single worm and sucking it I to her mouth and chewing… and then she laughed.
Urg’tohn, Lord Duroc
As the lids were lifted, Brianna gasped and her nose turned up in surprise and disbelief. As the others up and down the table dug in, she looked at Urg then his mate. Between his handfuls and her individual sucking down of the worms, she realized she was out of her depth a bit. “Well, I guess when in Rome,” she said. She took a huge swig of the fire wine, as she had come to calling it to herself. As the burn filled her throat, she took a small grouping of the worms between three fingers, tipped her head back and dropped them into her mouth like a child with spaghetti. She closed her mouth, took a couple bites and swallowed. “OH GODS!” She laughed and coughed and covered her mouth. With watery eyes she looked at those at the table and laughed. She had to take a second sip of wine before she could talk. “I think that is perhaps the first time I’ve eaten food that I can still feel move in my stomach.” She was laughing and still trying to decide if it was disgusting or merely yukky seeming.

HoMPeople watched and laughed, but most of it was good natured. Urg banged on the table. “What? Serpent worms not to your liking, Fire-Born?” and he laughed and banged the table some more. As the rest went back to eating, human male wearing some kind of armor sat next to Brianna and slid a plate to her. On it was a cheeseburger.
House Duroc
She laughed and nodded to the man. “Thank you… so is this ground up Warg or something equally strange?” She leaned over to speak to him, her eyes on Urg so he would see she was teasing as she asked. She picked up the burger and took a bite before she got her answer. It only took one bite to make her swallow it and laugh, covering her mouth and shaking her head and waving her other hand at the man behind her. “Lemme guess… gagh?” she laughed looking at Urg.
Brianna
Fire-BornUrg shrugged and said “What else?” and laughed. Soon another course was brought out, along with more wine. This time it was skewers of meat, a kind seemed to excite the crew.
House Duroc
She had finished most of her burger when the skewers arrived. She took one of the skewers. After a sip of wine to clean her palate, or rather, burn it off she bit into the skewer with equal abandon to either love it or hate it. Either way, she would do it with abandon and surrender to the interesting tastes.

HoMA heavy hand fell on her shoulder and a familiar voice said “I didnt take you for one to eat the flesh of vanquished enemies, Fire-Born.” The voice belonged to the second guard, who was now standing behind her.
House Duroc
Brianna stiffened at the surprise, but then she laughed. “I guess he shouldn’t have gotten himself vanquished.” She turned around with a smile and saw her companion from the trip. “I am glad to see you up and about. I was worried. Though I guess, as far as injuries go, it was mild, right?” She made to scoot over to make room for him if he wanted. “How is your fearless leader? I would call you each by name but you conveniently left that out of our conversations.” She shook her head like it was a horrible oversight on their part. But her smile maintained her jesting mood.

HoM“B’ghal.” he said and then looked at Urg. Urg smiled and gave a short nod, and the Klingon sat next to her. “The wound was nothing. A scratch.” he said, but as he reached past her to get a tankard of wine, the scent of cauterized flesh and very strong antiseptic was readily apparent.
House Duroc
Her nose automatically turned up a moment but she playfully shoved him back as he sat back down. “Guess that’s a good thing or I’d be having ‘guardian burgers’ for dinner, eh?” She laughed and took a sip of the wine, and went back to her meal. “How is your companion, my other guardian?” She glanced around trying to find the one she spoke of.
Looking across the table, she smiled to Urg. “They were the perfect guards, Lord Urg. Thank you for sending them with me.” She nodded respectfully to him and smiled with a slight raise of her glass.

HoMUrg bellowed “I expected nothing less, and I was not disappointed!” which illicited a round of cheers and several claps on the back to B’ghal. He looked at Bri and said “He will recover. His wound was severe, but he is strong.” and he grabbed a handful of gagh and began eating.
Urg looked at Brianna and said “Did you find what you were looking for today?”
House Duroc
Brianna nodded, “B’ghal,” she said as he settled beside her. When the cheering rose up, she leaned to her guardian, “Perhaps I can see him when Ur…Lord Urg is done talking with me, this evening?” She needed to see he was all right, for herself. Afterall, it was her fault he was in medical.
Looking back at Urg as he questioned her, she smiled. “I found the where but not the what to what I was seeking. It seems the area isn’t as empty as I thought.” She waved a hand at B’ghal. “As they can attest to. I will see about an exploration of the location at another date. But thank you, without your help I wouldn’t have gotten all the intel I have.” She smiled and with eyes meant just for him, she nodded respectfully. He had saved for her career and her sanity by his intervention. She had no Earthly ideal how the outcome of that altercation would have gone had Urg not stepped in.

HoMHe smiled at her and said “And what would such an… ‘exploration’… consist of, eh?” and he leaned forward and locked onto her eyes with his own. K’Letn saw and lifted a tankard to her lips and said “Don’t look too deep… it will make you doubt reality.” so softly that only Brianna could hear it.
House Duroc
She took a sip of her wine to hide her lips as she replied. “I never trusted reality…” After having a drink, she looked back, her head cocked slightly to the side to peer at him.
“A team of miners, scientists, and engineers. They would test the rock, check the structure for soundness and see if whatever asset was in there was played out, yet.” She crossed her arms on the table and leaned on them, almost mirroring him.
