The following information is what is currently known of the position of Head of Judicial System. The link via the MOTD will change upon any amendments made to the following description.

What she and all Civilian Leaders / Cabinet Members have in common:

• They belong to the Government Cabinet, which consists of the Gov., Lt. Gov. and all Civilian Leaders. The Lt. Gov. also represent the Starfleet concerns. The Gov. is their boss (at least in the current setting, where the Gov. is a Civilian Leader and the Lt. Gov is the highest ranking Starfleet Officer)

• They have an office in the Government tower and a number of administrational staff working for them in the Government Tower

• They get a rather luxurious private home (villa/penthouse/house… you choose) in the Residential District on Government expenses

• They have large premises on Oed to fulfil their jobs and a large workforce of a few hundred people to work for them. They are responsible for them and for the organisational structure within their department.

• They get a contingent of personal bodyguards when they are on official Government business outside of a secured area, since they fulfill a very public role and are constantly in the center of attention of the press

Now for the specifics for the Head of the Judicial System

• He/she has additional offices in the large court house building, one of the oldest buildings on Oed and a tourist attraction

• He/she is the highest lawyer in the legal department on Oed. He is responsible for all employees of the Judicial System and their internal organisation and hierarchy.

• His/her department is responsible for the supervision of all lawyers on Oed and has to follow up on any complaints regarding their conduct

• He/she is responsible for prosecuting or supervising the prosecution of all Oed’s Criminal cases, he also has a responsibility to advise the Oed government of the legal basis for its actions / policies. Thereby he/she acts as a control of the Government. He/she can veto Government decisions and delay them until they are consistent with Starfleet and Earth Colonial laws. Thereby he/she has a very unique power on Oed. If an agreement can not be reached a diplomatic mediator has to be requested from Earth colonial administration.

• He/she is the only Cabinet member NOT appointed by the Governor of Oed V, but by the Terran Chief Administrator of colonial matters.

• He/she does report to the Governor though, and is tasked to work closely with the Cabinet for the best of Oed.

• He/she doesn’t normally attend Cabinet meetings, but does so if or when legal matters or policy is being discussed.

• He/she must liaise with the Head of Police Force on all major criminal cases and organised crime.

• He/she can start investigations, with the permission of the Governor of Oed V, under the purview of a ‘Special Prosecution’.

• He/she can call a Grand Jury to see if criminal charges should be brought or proceed start to trial with legal justification.
