Her lips quirked into a small smile. “Well, you had asked so nicely, so I figured I’d tend to it sooner rather later. I hope that’s alright,” Halai replied, moving closer.

Reaching a biobed, Halai’s hand ran along it a bit and then she slipped on up easily, her body showing its strength in the simple movement. She then sat upright with an air of serenity.

Akem grinned as he grabbed a medical scanner and moved over to Halai, taking in her look and presence. As he lifted the small device to her head, he inquired, “You seem a bit different from earlier. Perhaps a bit more at ease with yourself?” he continued the scan down her neck and torso, looking for anything amiss, but also ensuring that her body would be able to handle any potential pressure from the ship that the Black Sparrow’s advanced engines might create. Conrad had briefed Akem on their new engines that they had acquired during their time with the Kaldonians.

“Did something change from down there to up here?” he asked with a smile, peaceful and yet admiring of her physique. She seemed, so far, to be a strong woman.

Physically she was fairly healthy. She cleared maintained her old Starfleet physical training level and showed a high degree of muscle tone but also flexibility. Her vitals were mostly strong but showed sings of stress and fatigue, and this was also revealed in the muscle tension in her neck and shoulders. “Different…” she repeated, considering his observation.

Halai wasn’t one to lie, but nor did she reveal things without cause. Still, she could often wear her heart on her sleeve and preferred that to constant concealment. But the events at her villa had changed many things including that full openness. Right now she knew all too well that he’d be aware of thing she didn’t wish people to know, like how deep her struggles were right now. Could he see through her? Probably.

Exhaling, Halai fixed her gold-ringed eyes on him. “So much in life is an illusion. It’s up to you which version you think is true. But the truth is often a bit more complicated than anyone can truly grasp.”
