Nicholas searched for the Lt Governor’s office. Finding a sign that read ‘Captain Parker Xavier, Lieutenant Governor’ he pressed the door chime below the sign. Starfleet protocol stickler. I won’t have to play too much the character.

After the executive assistant had announced him and he had waited a minute or two the Captain opened the door. He was in his SF uniform.

“Cmd please come in.” He said and then walked to the side of his desk. He awaited the officer to approach him and offer him a handshake so he then could round his desk and get to business.

Xavier Lt. Gov

Nicholas walked into Xavier’s office. Starfleet, but trying to make the bureaucrats feel at home. He shook the Captain’s hand. “Lt Cmdr James, Nicholas S. Reporting for duty as Chief Intelligence Officer, Starfleet division, OED V.”

“I’m certainly glad to have you. Our last CIO came and went so fast I never caught the name.. I hope you intend to take this post with a little more commitment.” The Captain said. Even if James was a newbie, and he wasn’t, Xavier was sure he got the hint. Screw me and leave quick and the favor will get returned.

Nicholas nodded the way only a spy can. Message received and understood. Xavier didn’t know who Nicholas worked for, but let him have his command.

“Cmd before we begin you need to know something. Intel always has a primary mission and then their real mission. I understand that. However never let the latter screw up the former and you will do fine under my command.”

“The functionings of your crew will never be disturbed. And my service record may be mainly classified, but there are years per assignment. I tend to be in one place for 2-3 years.” He studied the Lt Governor for a moment. “Even if I do, during the course of my time here, have a purely intelligence based assignment, it will go entirely unnoticed. I’m not new to my job. I’ve learned to multitask. I provide you with intelligence and support while being Starfleet Intelligence’s arm at OED V, is this agreeable?”

“More than agreeable Cmd. Its your basic duty and a man that knows and understands that knows what it means.” Xavier commented. “Now to other things. You know Oed can be an unwanted haven for a lot of illicit operations. In the past they have caused considerable damage to Oed. SF Security role is not to ferret these out even though they do try. They are about security. The local police do good but they are more oriented toward crime for profit criminal organizations. Where do you see your role?”
