Alston paced back and forth in front of the large window in his office, over looking the city. With the changing of the Governor it called into question what he wanted to do next. His contract was up, and he was free to do what he wanted. He could return to his old life, flying amongst the stars, doing the odd jobs here and there. But there was something nice about having a place to go home to each night.

But that was something to consider in the near future. For now though, there was work to be done. He had spent enough time building up the agency, he wasn’t going to leave it to fall part. And with Mr. Reilly off world on an assignment, he didn’t have anyone else that could step in. So for now, it was as good of an excuse to stick around for a bit longer then anything else he had.

First thing, figure out what he could learn about this new Governor of theirs. Sliding out a stool, he started pulling up all of the information he could on Vaelir th’Renn.

Background

Vaelir Renn is an Aenar engineer who received considerable recognition for his work on Andoria before joining the effort to restore OED V following the comet incident. His technical skill, patience, and dedication eventually led to his appointment as head of the planetary terraforming project.

Renn did not actively seek political office. His election as governor appears to have resulted from the trust he earned through years of public service and his direct involvement in OED V’s recovery.

Renn is a highly skilled engineer with extensive experience in planetary restoration, environmental systems, and large-scale infrastructure projects.

Like all Aenar, Renn is blind. He does not require technological assistance to navigate his surroundings. His telepathy, hearing, spatial awareness, and other heightened senses provide him with an exceptionally detailed perception of the environment around him.

Renn is also a capable telepath, although he maintains strict personal and ethical boundaries concerning the minds of others.

Personality Assessment

Renn is calm, patient, compassionate, and deeply principled. He displays little interest in wealth, personal power, or recognition. His decisions are consistently guided by what he believes will best serve the people of OED V.

He is unusually forgiving and makes considerable effort to understand the motivations of others before passing judgment. Renn favors diplomacy, compassion, and rehabilitation over punishment, but he is capable of acting decisively when lives are at risk.

He is regarded by many residents as an almost saintly figure. Available intelligence has uncovered no evidence of corruption, cruelty, personal scandal, or abuse of authority.

Renn’s popularity is based primarily on personal trust rather than political ambition. He maintains strong support among engineers, terraforming personnel, Andorian residents, and civilians affected by the reconstruction of OED V.

Alston shut off the console and just looked out the window, and just considered what he had read. An honest man was often harder to deal with. Sure they were easier to predict, but there was not much chance to manipulate them. Also he had never met a truly honest man. There was always something lurking in the background.

Reaching over he tapped the comm panel, and called the Operations Center.

The appointment was made for an hour later. Eryn walked into the plane warehouse and across the loading bay. She stepped through an interior door and then took the lift to the correct floor. She paused by the desk. “Zhe director requested me zo see him.”
