Hello, everyone,

We have received several requests from people wanting to add new elements to OED, including historical events and organizations. Jen and I would like to address those requests in the following manner.

OED is built by its players and has a rich history. We believe that history should be created through sims on OED, rather than simply added because someone has a great idea. It should be something that occurred on the planet, within the OED system, or directly involved the colony.

To be considered for a permanent entry in the OED Library, an idea, sim, or concept must meet all of the following criteria:

It must be approved by the Governor and Lieutenant Governor.

• If the idea develops naturally during a sim, it may be submitted for approval at the end of the process rather than the beginning, provided that approval is received before it becomes part of OED canon.
• We recommend requesting approval ahead of time whenever possible, as we can help ensure the idea works with OED’s established history and canon.

It must be played out in a PRSIM.

• The sim may take place in either the past or the present. When dealing with the past, the concept should be brought to the attention of the Governor and Lieutenant Governor to ensure it does not conflict with established OED history.
• The PRSIM must follow the current Primer guidelines.
• If you have older threads that meet the current PRSIM Primer requirements and can provide us with links, you may also submit past ideas that were lost, overlooked, or never formally added to OED canon.

It may not involve power gaming.

• You may not make yourself or your character the center of OED without prior authorization.
• For example, your character may own a small or large business with influence that reaches even the highest levels of the colony. However, OED’s existence, survival, government, economy, or history may not rest entirely on you or your characters alone.

Our answer will always try to begin with “yes, if,” followed by “maybe,” and only rarely “no.”
