They were staying aboard Urg’s ship. Before they were married, Urg stayed here a lot for the protection of his people. Her husband knew Jal’na preferred to be planetside and had accommodated her. However, the growth of their child within her womb had made him more cautious, especially with Astrid’s brother threatening them all for helping her.Jal’na had no doubt Urg would keep her safe, that their House would do whatever necessary to make sure that happened. So if that meant she had to sleep aboard the ship, then she would. It was perfectly safe for her and their child to transport back and forth.
Urg had been patient and accommodating with Jal’na wanting to wait to make an official announcement. It was still strange and unfamiliar to have her life be so public. Urg let her keep their pregnancy between them for awhile. A joyous secret that she got to hold close to her heart.
She stood in front of the mirror, grinning like a fool at herself. Her hand rested over the curve of her stomach. Her scrubs no longer fit. They had pulled tightly over their child when she pulled them on moments ago. Jal’na had popped overnight, suddenly showing off the changes in her body to make room for their baby. She knew it would happen, but she hadn’t prepared by getting larger clothes. If she went out like this, it would be glaringly obvious to everyone. That was not how she wished to announce their child to their House.
She stared at the bump as her hand rested protectively over it. It was time. Urg needed to make the announcement. Well, they would make it, but he was truly excited, and she wanted him to do it. She was sure given her bouts of rage, there were rumors, but confirmation would be celebrated. She would tell him in a minute. She wanted to look at the evidence of their baby a moment longer. Soon she would be able to feel him move, but right now there was no denying he was there, safe in her womb.
Jal’na, Lady Duroc
“We should think of a name, you know.” said a voice like far off thunder. Urg leaned against the bulkhead just inside the door. Sometimes it was downright eerie how a being of his size could move quietly. “And if you want to keep gonna secret much longer, maybe think of wearing an extra-roomy bathrobe to work. Or maybe just wrap yourself in a toga. Of course if you do that, you might end up pregnant again.” and he grinned at her.
Urg’tohn, Lord Duroc
“A toga? I will remember that when we are ready for another child,” Jal’na’s eyes met his in the mirror smoldering with passion before she turned to look at him. “We have already been told the name, Urg. He will be called Kvaar’thon. Kvaar’ton declared it so. Though I suppose since we do not get to pick the name, we can choose a nick name.” Jal’na was slightly disappointed by the fact they would not choose the name of their first child. Though she had a feeling it was a name Urg would choose anyway. Jal’na also knew she would have agreed because it mattered to Urg. Perhaps this would be the tradition of their House. That Kvaar’ton would choose the names of their children each time?
Kvaar’ton had come to them the moment she had told Urg she was pregnant, and blessed their child and told them his name. That was also the day she’d had an encounter with Du’clis of House H’ol. Jal’na had not heard from her since, and that was perfectly fine with her. Jal’na knew she should research it, find out how she was related to the woman. That was something that would have to be done on Q’onos. The home world was too dangerous for her to go to now, and she was certain it was something she should find out for herself and not pawn off on someone else.
Her discarded too small scrubs lay across the back of a chair, and were left there as she moved toward him. “I have a dress I can wear for now, but he will show anyway,” she said with her hand over their child. “I will have to purchase new clothing today.” She took his hand and guided it to rest under hers over the swell of her womb. “You’ve indulged me long enough, Urg. I have reveled in this time to keep our joy to ourselves, just you and me, but it’s time. You must share our joy with the House.”
Jal’na, Lady Duroc
Urg’s eyes widened and the fire that burned in them grew exponentially. “Really?! We can make the announcement?!” and he took her hands in his and squeezed almost painfully.
Urg’tohn, Lord Duroc
Jal’na smiled, soaking in the fire in his eyes. “Yes, Really. I can not go to work today. I am not walking around the hospital naked for a lack of appropriate clothing. I will get dressed, and we can go.” Her purr rumbled through her to him, “Unless you want to celebrate on our own first.”
Jal’na, Lady Duroc
Urg grinned and looked down at her. ” As much as that appeals to me, mate… my back is still healing from the last celebration we had.” and he chuckled and kissed her. Pulling back, he said ” But as you decree, so shall it be, my wife.” A large arm swung a closed fist at the wall and with a soft thwack he activated the comms. =/\= Shiv, it is time. Notify the embassy that the press conference will happen in an hour. I’m sure there have been many wondering what changes I have in mind. It is time to let them know. =/\= There was no response save for a chirp of an acknowledgment being sent via the computer. Urg look at Jal’na and said “You have clothes, by the way. I made sure that when you decided, you wouldn’t have to fret over it.” Depressed a button on the control panel and then said ” You aide will be here momentarily. Maybe a robe would be in order.” and he grinned as his eyes ran over her body with a look of simultaneous lust and adoration.
Urg’tohn, Lord Duroc
Jal’na sighed slightly. She couldn’t stand the woman Urg had decided to be her personal shopper. She could not stand anything the woman picked for her. It wasn’t her. She had this idea of Jal’na needing a make-over, but Jal’na refused to adhere to it. The house could take her or leave her as she was. She wasn’t going to pretend. And she had been looking forward to the insaneness that would be her friends going with her to pick out clothes. It had been months since she’d spent a whole evening with them, and she missed it. That was life sometimes.
She smiled, “I’m sure I can find something, and it certainly won’t make me ‘fret’. What exactly would that look like?” She laughed as she moved over to the wardrobe and took out a dress she’d been holding on to. It was in the colors of House Duroc. Embroidered and gilded. She’d had it made for today specifically. It was meant to accentuate the life inside her, and show her position as the Lady to Urg’s Lord.
Jal’na, Lady Duroc
Urg smiled at the dress. Because of course she had already managed the outfit. Oh, he was well aware that his wife didn’t like the personal shopper he had chosen for her. But he hadn’t chosen her for her taste in fashion (although she was a fairly talented seamstress). Madrelia was one of the finest close-quarter combatants he had ever seen. A Cardassian, she may or may not have been a part of a particularly brutal secret police agency during the Dominion War, but was now working for House Duroc to- in her words- “… atone for past misdeeds.” And he didn’t want his wife to have any protection less than the best.
“I think that dress is beautiful, my love.” Urg said sincerely. “And it will look all the more so when you wear it.” The comm panel chirped and a voice said “Press will begin arriving in the next few minutes, Lord Duroc.” Urg grunted in acknowledgement and then looked at Jal’na. “I will go and see to the final preparations. Meet me in the great hall and we can walk out together?” he asked.
Urg’tohn, Lord Duroc
“Of course.” Jal’na nipped lightly at his cheek and then turned back to the dress. Loosening ties and buckles so she could easily slip it on.
Jal’na was never one to linger over ‘getting ready’. She was beside Urg in the great hall less than ten minutes later. The dress was easy to move in and tighter in just the right places to show off the growing child within her. The pendant of Kvaar’ton hung just below her throat. And her dark hair fell in waves down her back.
