After leaving the Lt Governor’s office, she headed for Captain McBride’s office to get additional information on this whole situation, she was already mulling things over in her head and was looking for legal precedence to deal with all parties that had been involved. She stopped at the door and rang the chime.

“Come,” a warm but commanding voice.

Inside the modest office, McBride was at his corner desk, with one side facing out so he could have guests. Two chairs sat on the other side. Behind him was a stretch of windows along the exterior that wrapped around the other corner and led the eye to a sitting area with a replicator. There was a door just next to the that that led to a small washroom. Adjacent to his desk area was a sitting area comprised of a loveseat and an arm chair. A bookcase with few photos and mementos sat in the corner.

He looked up and flashed a smile, knowing who it was simply by the uniform. “Ahh, my new JAG officer, correct?”

“That would be me Captain.” She said as she stepped into the room and extended her hand “Lt Commander Emersyn Gray. ” She said as she took in the room “The Lt Gov suggested that I come talk with you about the current situation that is going on. What are your thoughts on what’s happened thus far?” She asked cutting to the chase.

He shook her hand and gestured to the chairs at his desk. “Please have a seat.”

“As to the current situation, I’m afraid you’ll have to be more specific,” he said with a smirk. “That could refer to numerous things, especially here on Oed.”

Emerysn smiled and chuckled “I heard that things were quite busy around these parts.” She said “How about the big case with the Star Fleet Captain and some questionable decisions that were made.” She said “And then we can work our way down to things that may not be on my desk when I walk into my office, but that I should probably know about on the off chance that something goes sideways.” She said

Jonathan cocked his head to one side and frowned ever so slightly. “Do you mean the one with the Admiral and his followers?” She might have meant Dasca’s involvement, but he wanted to be sure they were on the same page.

“That is the one.” Emeryson said “I spoke with Dasca’s a little bit ago, she gave me a brief rundown and said I should come talk with you.” Emeryson smiled “So here I am. What do we have at this point. If possible I want to deal with the Admiral if possible for his part, and his blatant dereliction to duty.” Emeryson said with a serious tone of voice.

Jonathan tried hard to not frown more deeply. “Um, well, the Admiral and the others have already been charged by the JAG office. The courts martial are happening soon and I know Dasca will be testifying to her part in uncovering the debacle. As far as Oed goes, our part is done once she gives her testimony. Then we just wait to see what happens. I know she smoothed everything over with Lord Duroc, so we don’t have to worry about diplomatic issues. Where you will need to be mindful going forward is that Starfleet’s action, especially those sanctioned by Command cannot supercede Oed’s authority. The statement Hyrushi and Dasca made to the Federation Council made it very clear that Oed’s government will not tolerate actions being taken on the colony without the colonial government’s awareness and okay. this gets tricky when we have issues of Federation Security. Starfleet is used to just doing what it feels it needs to, but Dasca and I are working hard to temper that impulse and instil a cooperative process instead.” He had an issue to bring up but he wanted to make sure they were on the same page first.

Emersyn nodded “I agree completely. I Dasca’s statement to the Council.” She said thoughtfully “And I agree, there needs to be cooperation between the two. Starfleet does sometimes just run in like a bull in the china shop and things get worse. I would like to know your thoughts on how to make this more cooperative.” She said honestly. Emeryson looked at McBride “My track record within the JAG has been one marked by pushing for cooperation with the various government officals and JAG. Sometimes it is an easy thing, but sometimes it’s not. So after I hear your thoughts, I’d like to have a sit down with you, Dasca , and whomever else you think needs to be involved so we can get things in writing, it will be a living document and will change as it needs to, but then at least we have a guide for how things need to be handled.” She suggested “Thoughts?”

He nodded slowly. “It’s something I think Dasca would be down for. I do know we need things to be flexible given the situation with the Vren, but having a best practices plan that we all agree on and the uppers at Command understand and agree to would go a long way towards making sure no one is stepping on toes unnecessarily. And probably save our dear Lieutenant Governor a bit of stress, for which I’m sure she’d be grateful,” he said, breaking into a grin.

Emerysn nodded “I can understand her stress levels…I would not want to be in her office. So lets see what we can come up with as a group. I think it needs to have you , myself, Dasca and thoughts on others that needed to be involved in the development. Once we have it, we can take it to the Governor. I haven’t had a chance to meet them yet, but I’m sure that they are even busier and more stressed than Dasca.” She said thinking outloud.

McBride gave a lopsided grin. “Yes, but you’d never know it. Governor Hyrushi is a seemingly unflappable man. But he and Dasca work very closely in lock-step with each other. I can guarantee you he’ll know what we’re planning long before he sees it. I’ll set up the meeting with Dasca and we’ll coordinate schedules. That is probably the trickiest part about this whole thing.”

He leaned back and drew in a long and steadying breath as he gazed at Emersyn. “Commander, I have a… delicate situation of a more personal nature. I have someone who is in need of a lawyer. It’s an extremely sensitive situation and they are currently under protection. They have been involved with a group that has committed crimes against Starfleet, and they have fled for their safety. They are willing to share what they know and what they’ve been through, but I want to make sure they not only get a fair shake legally, but get the other support they need. I don’t trust a less experienced lawyer with this.”

Emersyn nodded “I’m listening Captain. I can’t make any promises but I will do my best to make sure that they are treated fairly in court. I would need a few more details about what’s going on if you can share them with me or would you rather let the person you are involved with do that?” She asked. Sensitive situations were her bread and butter, she had handled situations involving peace between worlds and one wrong move could lead to all out war all because of one indiscretion by the daughter of a Klingon Dignitary with a Cardassian Dignitary’s daughter and a party they were at.
