“Something like that, I guess,” Jonathan said with a frown. Sometimes there were just situations that had no obvious answers and the only way forward was through. But at least venting a bit of his frustrations meant that he was less likely to take it out on unsuspecting junior officers.

Captain McBride, Starfleet CO

“Well I tend to fall back to physical exertion for my stress relief.” Séan offered his approach to blowing off steam. “Nothing like a bit of cardio, weight lifting, then hitting a bag until my mind goes blank.”

Counselor Iven

He nodded. “It’s more or less what I’ve been doing lately,” McBride said, taking another bite of chicken. Right now things were just going to be variable and that was honestly nothing new for him or his role.

“So, enough about that. What’s new with you?” Jonathan asked.

Captain McBride, Starfleet CO

“Oh, you know. The same that any counselor in a severely understaffed counseling department gets up to.” Séan smiled wryly before he finished off his tea. “Being swamped. At least I’m taking a meal break and still working. With our CMHO still not seeing patients we’ve had to divvy up her case load until she can get back to it.”

Counselor Iven

He nodded. While there were things in the works in the background, nothing was for certain, so for the moment McBride couldn’t say anything. “Well, hopefully that won’t last for too long. I have talked to Personnel and we will have some new health based staff joining, many who are multidisciplinary, so they have the ability to work in different departments. It’ll be a couple weeks though before anyone arrives.”

“That would be a Godsend.” Séan said with a touch of relief in his voice. “So Captain, I hope our working lunch has been helpful for you. It was a good reason for me to get out of the office so I do appreciate that. Did you want to do this again?”

Counselor Iven

He drew in a deep breath and nodded. “You know, that would be nice. Gives me a reason to get away from the Complex more beyond just work stuff.” Jonathan gave Séan a small smile. “Thanks, Séan. I appreciate you letting me vent a little. And I guess i’ll just have to double-down on my stress release activities more over the next while.” Certainly life on Oed wasn’t going to calm down anytime soon.

“You’re welcome.” Séan gave a nod in return then shifted it into a grin. “It’s a lot easier to requisition a new punching bag than it is to get replacement personnel.”

Counselor Iven

He snorted. “That it is, that it is.” Jon dug into the rest of his meal, glad to have tried a new place.

“So, I think, if I put it in my schedule as a regular occurrence, I can probably swing a weekly meeting. We can leave it open for content. If I need to talk, I can, and if you have things to bring up, you can as well. Would that work for you?’ McBride asked.
